@NorthBankVoice1 How can a response to an ssw be showing when the event as not even happened yet? Yes it may not play out favourably and it may even bring warmer conditions, but models can’t really pick up in an event until it’s actually taken place. The outlook is far from settled
The latest GFS 06z is in and it’s showing high pressure taking control into early March 🌤️
Deep cold stays locked up near Greenland ❄️ while the UK sits under a ridge with 1020–1030mb pressure. That means largely dry conditions, light winds and some decent sunshine for many ☀️
Temps widely into double figures, 12–15°C possible in parts of England & Wales 🌡️ feeling pretty springlike by day, though still chilly at night 🌙
Yes, an SSW is ongoing, but right now there’s no clear cold response showing for the UK. Early March looking more settled than wintry.
Spring vibes building? 🌼
@illgneralison It’s to early to say where parts of the PV end up during a split. We have to wait for the event to play out first before we can start to pick up the pieces.
@JakeGru79480243@BrianFi86220437 And let’s be honest here Jake do the seasons in this country even know what season it is these days! Summer weather in spring and sometimes autumnal weather in Summer for instance
@MATTYWOLVES3@BrianFi86220437 Theoretically true winter ends around late March astronomical terms so very much possible hoping it follows up an 8 year trend since 2010 of severe events
@JakeGru79480243@MATTYWOLVES3 We had heavy snowfall in the south east of Ireland on 17th 18th March 2018...minus -10hpa...cold north easterly airflow from cold continental Europe picking up convection and moisture from the Irish sea...forming heavy snow showers🥶
Yeh tbh it would depend on it being a split event and if we could get a a good feed of significant cold pool on tap. Also if we could get this to propagate down through the layers in quick time, hence a QTR for instance! Lots to keep and eye on though and a bit of excitement at the very least 🥊
@MATTYWOLVES3 Always the optimist which I like. Adding in some reality, while it could lead to cold conditions, it would be mid to late March by the time it flows down. Then becomes a bit messy all round
HOW IM FEELING ISSUED 23/02/26
guys this is a hard thing for me to say but there’s 3 things im feeling that ive not felt in a long time
1 DEEP ANGER THAT FEELS LIKE A VIOD
2 EMPTY-NESS FEELING LIKE NOTHING MATTERS ANYMORE THAT IM NOT WORTH ANYTHING
3 EVERYBODY HATES ME
Bottom line is is there lots of cold air in the Arctic? Yes, intense cold air! Are the North Sea temps at there lowest now? Pretty much yeh! So significant cold and snow is more than possible with the right set up, yes solar output becomes higher which means faster melting! But it can also mean greater convection build up! Also worth noting is in a cold and wintry set up there’s no guarantees of a great deal of sun to speed up melt anyway! That’s why I always say it’s never wise to give up on winter even in March.
