Coworker is having a real dilemma. $1 for the tooth fairy seems too low, $5 seems way too high.
What's a parent to do these days?

@CarlsonTractor A guy I worked for as a kid had one of those as a feeding tractor. Worked excellent for that but useless as tits on a bull for anything else.

For some stupid reason, I bought a BMX bike 10 years ago. It was a Premium that was $700, but I really wanted the Sunday because everything about it was right. However, it was $1100.
A decade later, I have another $700 sunk into the Premium to make it feel like a Sunday.

Puts Isaac Newton in the driver's seat and requires much smaller adjustments than actually orbiting the moon.

I don't think I had fully appreciated how this works, but it's obvious now. NASA is aiming for a point in space where they know the moon will be. Like throwing to a receiver, but on a somewhat larger and faster scale.

If you are using the earth as a reference frame, the moon is actually doing a close flyby of Artemis II.

There's a real irony that one of the worst aircraft of WWII would be ideal for shooting down Shahed drones today. The Boulton-Paul Defiant was 90 years ahead of its time.

Pretty crazy footage of a U.S. Air Force F-15 fighter jet pursuing and apparently failing to intercept an Iranian Shahed-type long-range attack drone at very low altitude in northern Iraq earlier on Wednesday. The Shahed is later seen making an impact in the area of an already burning Castrol motor oil facility located in Iraq's Erbil Governorate.

@Nyanymaru @SFumoto This is based, VERY loosely, on the cooking wagons cowboys would use while traveling with cattle herds.
They either had to quickly move ahead of the herd, then stop to cook, or cook in motion.
In the modern sporting version, it's both.
It's an intentional spectacle.

@gayguycandleco I remember both disasters.
I think Challenger is getting more press now because of the launch, and the fact the fundamental problem from Challenger is still extant on SLS.
On the return trip we'll hear more Columbia comparisons, especially considering the Orion heat shield.

There is, for good reason, a lot of discourse about Challenger tonight, but I have found that people often forget about the Columbia disaster.
This is likely due to a variety of reasons, including the fact that it occurred while the country was at war in Afghanistan and just days away from invading Iraq, all while still reeling from 9/11.
I was 8 when we lost Columbia. It is my Challenger.

@Okaisan1995 The popularity varies widely depending on generation and subculture.
I have more than one, but look positively naked compared to some of my peers.
I know some people remove ones they no longer care for or find embarrassing now, but mine mean too much to me to ever remove.
