@polybacktest I doubt he said that. Because Whatsapp e2ee was only implemented after they were bought by Facebook.

Edward Snowden in 2019: "The problem with applications like WhatsApp is, it was actually designed to have very strong encryption, just the same as the gold standard today which would be the signal messenger or the wire messenger, but then it was bought by Facebook because it was so good, and now Facebook is quite aggressively reducing the security of WhatsApp about once a quarter, and they’re trying to do it as quietly as possible, so a messenger that the people are comfortable using now is actually a danger to you."

@thekitze Especially when you've used the shinkansen in Japan... Trains on time, very regularly, spacious, quiet... Just grab a nice snack and have a super calm ride across the country in no time. At times I was even sad the train was that fast as I would've preferred chilling some more

Pavel is quite generous. Bros got millions of dollars and is simply burning them instead of selling the users. Now there's also premium subscription to cover up some of the costs This is simply his baby he's passionate about and he's shown that more than enough. My only concern is, what if he dies? Because then someone else will have to take place and there's a chance it could get sold or they're squeezing the users. Ofc it's not guaranteed to happen but I doubt there's a second person burning for this project as much as Pavel does himself.

Can I ask a dumb question… If Telegram is free... how does it store years of chats, photos, videos, and files for hundreds of millions of users? 🤔

Man android 17 fucking sucks. Why does the wifi quick settings tile turn off when you're not connected to wifi? While Wi-Fi is actually turned on still Why do they just change shit for the sake of changing them. I miss when quick settings were actually quick settings.

@0xaniol No. You gotta figure how to balance them living a healthy AND fun life. Getting shitfaced drunk every now and then, having unforgettable nights with your loved ones, while still maintaining a healthy life and good health scores, can be really satisfying

life starts when you get rid of your whoop you start obsessing over the metrics and a bad recovery score ruins your whole mood once you learn the basics of sleep: - no screens before bed - alcohol destroys your sleep quality - consistent bed time and wake time get rid of that device and just enjoy a healthy life your own way

It's great as long as you're using it in your domain you're quite familiar with already. But learning a new framework/programming language is excruciatingly tiresome now. There's ai to do pretty much everything, so why learn it when you can literally solve it 10x faster? But you're supposed to review it eventually, how are you supposed to do that when you've never used it? But again, why use it, when any coding agent is much faster?

The shittiest thing about AI as a SWE is that while it's not the 10x nitro-boost that all the AI hypebeast grifters on here claim it is, it *is* a net ~30% productivity gain (once you factor in all the review, code slop clean up, etc.), which is *just* enough of a boost where you cannot justify not using it. This is a letdown because using AI after years of learning to code without it is of course an ongoing humiliation ritual, (counterintuitively) *more* exhausting/draining than coding by hand, and way less enjoyable in general.
