My Senior Savings Protections Act. This could return many, many millions of dollars back into the hands of our seniors — and not cost the state one single dime. This legislation would allow anyone over 65 who prefers to pay by check to be granted the same incentives and discounts given to those who use electronic billing. * Please direct message me for information on how you can help support this important legislation via simple email. Together, we can do great things. ⚓️♥️RI.

@MikeWChip Classic. People commonly use red herrings when they can't refute. In other words, your message slummed the target. 🚩

Good Grief @PattyMurray your analogy would be valid if lightning struck 240 million times in an election year. Ignoring numeric scale is an absurd fallacy. Go sit down.

My next chapter: Starting on April 20 I’ll be a MMJ for KGAN (@iowasnewsnow) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My last day with WPRI-TV is Sunday, April 5. These last two years have been a blast, and I’m excited to tell the stories of Eastern Iowa. “The dream continues.”

"Nobody that's gone down to Florida is coming back. People that went to Florida, went to Texas. They're not coming back. "We just want you back so you can fund our far left policies in the state. Won't happen." "I'm eligible for estate tax. My kids will hate me if I don't move to Florida. They're not only punishing the billionaires and the millionaires, they want to reduce the estate tax from $7 million down to $750,000." "Everybody's house in New York is worth $750,000. So they want to punish everybody. It just doesn't work. They don't realize it. I should come back so I could feed the migrants?"

The average person is more likely to be struck by lightning than they are to commit voter fraud. Seriously. That's a real stat. I'm voting NO on the SAVE America Act.

There are so many books on (1) Islam as a political system and also on (2) Islamic extremism as a religion. These books are lived experience, written by Muslims, not by outside observers. I cannot understand why people remain ignorant to the value in learning through books instead of soundbites. I read across all cultures, and history. This shapes my worldview with substantiated thought, not parroted opinions. It also helps me call out BS when I see it.

@NYHammond @drsharisse I don’t know a single doctor driving a Maserati in my home state of Rhode Island. Not one. And I know a lot of doctors. They are closing practices left and right because they cannot afford to stay in business.

@drsharisse Doctors should make a good living. That does not necessarily mean enough to afford a Maserati.

There are companies who specialize in using "independent dispute resolution" to maximize insurance payouts for doctors. Gov. Hochul wants to block them from exploiting this process to squeeze money from Medicaid. Here is one of company's Instagram posts:

The AMA is busy weighing in on science; they seem to take on an advisory and opinion role on treatments, care, etc. (Things that are normally in the domain of NIH, CDC, DOH.) Now, that may be valid- because MDs have a lot of expertise that policy makers do not have-- BUT-- This means that doctors have no professional advocacy organization the way other licensed professionals do. Without a professional advocacy organization… doctors have no protection. I see this in Rhode Island every day. Independent providers are not even being paid enough to keep the lights on. The ACA was a gift to insurers, pharma, and other healthcare business associated organizations. They have skimmed all the money out of the system. Meanwhile, folks complain they are paying too much, not realizing exactly where the money goes. MDs are our hardest workers and biggest brains. If this work cannot be sustained with a decent income? Decent enough to at least survive in private practice? We simply won’t have any MDs. The future of HC is looking bleak. I have introduced several bills aimed directly at stopping this hemorrhage.

@drsharisse "Non-profit" merely refers to federal tax filing status. It does not imply morality or ethics. People confuse this. There should be a PSA.

Exactly. “Nonprofit” doesn’t guarantee good stewardship, expanded access, or fair treatment of physicians and staff. It just means no taxes—not no profits—and very little accountability for how those dollars are used.
Dutch Rojas@DutchRojas

A nonprofit hospital lost $201 million in six months. Laid off 650 employees. Three Negative credit outlooks. Then it bought naming rights to the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice facility. It pays no property taxes on $6.2 billion in real estate and lobbies for yours to be higher.

This is why hospital systems aggressively acquire practices. Control the physician, control the market. Noncompetes then block independent competition—leaving physicians “stuck” and patients with fewer options
Real Doc Speaks@real_doc_speaks

Hospitals are gluttons, and we need to lower the amount of money they consume. The solution is to pay them substantially less, and the hospitals will have to become more efficient. They would exit lines of service that they can't compete in. @DutchRojas @mass_marion

How long before local bureaucrats start blaming DC for this? I can see the headline now: "Trump isn’t paying Rhode Island owed Medicaid monies" The fact remains folks, Rhode Island keeps making massive mistakes… massive mistakes… and every time someone shines a light on it, they point the finger at Washington. NO! We own this-- and we need to clean it up ourselves. . .

Took the dog to the vet yesterday Golden retriever She ate something in the backyard My wife said "she looks off" I said "she's a dog. She always looks like that." My wife made the appointment anyway Nice office Fish tank in the lobby Every professional I visit has a fish tank The vet came in Looked at the dog for maybe 30 seconds Pressed on her stomach The dog wagged her tail He said "we should run some tests" I said "what kind of tests" He said "bloodwork, X-ray, urinalysis, and an ultrasound" I said "she ate a stick" He said "we want to be thorough" I said "what's the cost" He said "roughly $3,400" For a stick My wife looked at me Not the ceiling this time Directly at me The look that means "if you negotiate the vet bill for our dog I will never speak to you again" I said "run the tests" Fastest approval I've ever given No diligence No second opinion No counter The dog looked at me Tail still wagging She has no idea what anything costs Must be nice They took her to the back We sat in the waiting room for two hours My wife was worried I was calculating the per-minute cost of this visit I didn't say that out loud Therapy taught me that much The vet came back Looked at his chart for 90 seconds He said "good news. Nothing serious. She probably just ate something that didn't agree with her." I said "so she's fine" He said "she's fine" I said "we waited two hours and spent $3,400 to confirm what you suspected when you pressed on her stomach for 30 seconds" He said "we wanted to rule things out" I said "what did you rule out" He said "quite a bit" I said "name one thing" He paused My wife said "we're paying the bill" I said "I know we're paying the bill" The vet recommended a "premium digestive supplement" $89 a month I said no My wife said yes The vet looked at me I looked at the dog The dog was asleep on the floor $3,400 and two hours later and she's the most relaxed one in the room We paid In the car my wife said "you were going to negotiate weren't you" I said "the thought crossed my mind" She said "it's our dog" I said "I know. That's why I didn't." She looked at me I looked at the road The dog was in the backseat Head out the window Not a single thought behind those eyes I've never been more jealous of another living thing $3,400 $89/month supplement One stick Non-negotiable Sent from my iPhone
