🚨 THIS IS INSANE. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's sons could be making 3 to 5x returns on every dollar they spent buying tariff refund rights. Cantor Fitzgerald, now run by Lutnick's sons Brandon and Kyle, was buying tariff refund claims from companies at 20 to 30 cents on the dollar. The firm told clients it had "capacity to trade up to several hundred million" in these claims. They confirmed at least one $10 million trade was already executed as of July 2025. They said they expected that number to "balloon in the coming weeks." That was 9 months ago. Today those claims are worth 100 cents on the dollar. The refund portal is live, $166 billion in refunds are being processed. If Cantor bought $100 million in refund rights at 25 cents on the dollar, they spent $25 million. They now collect $100 million from the government. That is a $75 million profit. A 300% return. If they scaled to "several hundred million" as they told clients they could, the profits run into the hundreds of millions. Howard Lutnick was the architect of the tariff policy. He pushed Trump to impose them. He fought against officials who wanted to limit them. Then he left Cantor Fitzgerald to his sons and transferred his equity into a trust benefiting them. Tax free under government ethics rules. He received $360 million from the buyout. His sons positioned the firm to profit from the exact policy their father built. Their father publicly championed tariffs he knew could be struck down while his sons were buying refund claims betting they would be.

During talks between U.S. and Iranian delegations in Pakistan, the topic of Ukraine unexpectedly came up. While discussing U.S. guarantees in the event that Iran halts uranium enrichment and abandons the development of nuclear weapons, the Iranian side asked how the United States is fulfilling the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, in which it pledged to respect and protect Ukraine’s sovereignty. The U.S. delegation left the question unanswered.

$580,000,000 in oil futures moved 16 minutes before Trump announced a pause in Iran strikes. Not after. Before. The BBC just documented five separate instances of massive, suspiciously timed trades preceding Trump’s biggest market-moving announcements — oil futures, the tariff pause, Maduro’s capture, Iran ceasefire bets. The platforms where anonymous accounts cashed in? Polymarket and Kalshi. Donald Trump Jr. sits on Polymarket’s advisory board and is a strategic advisor to Kalshi. There’s even a law against this. The STOCK Act (2012) explicitly covers executive branch officials. Zero prosecutions in 14 years. Oh, and the DOJ unit created after Watergate to prosecute exactly this kind of corruption? Trump cut it from 36 lawyers to 2 and stripped its authority to file new cases.

This should be a much bigger story. The Trump administration is about to hand TotalEnergies, a French oil company, nearly $1 billion of your money to cancel its American offshore wind projects. And they are pulling the cash from an account they are not allowed to use this way. Here is how it works. The government has something called the Judgment Fund. Think of it as an emergency savings account for when the government loses a lawsuit or settles a real legal fight. It is not a checkbook the President can use whenever he feels like rewarding a company. To get around that rule, the administration is pretending TotalEnergies was about to sue. But TotalEnergies had no case. The company signed a contract in January 2025 with clear rules: the government cannot cancel these leases unless it first pauses the project for five years. The lease is less than four years old and was never paused. TotalEnergies agreed to those terms. There was no real lawsuit coming. So the administration invented a fake legal threat to justify raiding an account Congress controls. That matters because the Constitution says Congress, not the President, decides how taxpayer money gets spent. It gets worse. The White House claimed TotalEnergies would take the money and reinvest it in American oil and gas. The actual paperwork, now public, requires nothing of the kind. The company gets a billion dollars of taxpayer money and owes us nothing. So Americans are paying a foreign oil company to shut down clean energy projects here at home, using money that was never supposed to be spent this way, with zero strings attached. That is illegal, unethical, and a scandal hiding in plain sight.

I need an AI that tells me if I’ve already taken my Adderall, bc I never have any fucking clue. Can’t be something that works based on the bottle opening or a special bottle, or that I have to reset, or that I need to mark down. That is an AI use that would impress me.

The only thing that “balances” this market now is demand destruction on the scale of COVID lockdowns. Not lower prices. Not diplomacy. Government mandates forcing people to use less fuel. That’s the math. $95/bbl is not the answer.

“As I observed when I was Vanky’s talent wrangler on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ - and Jarvanka would work the room of Russian Mob types, facilitated by shady men like Felix Sater, the whisper thin couple seemed hell-bent on ruling the world, while their idiotic patriarch was happy to suck up the adulation and vice. No one handles their old man better than his eldest daughter, even down to the breathy sotto voce tone she adopts in his presence (her real speaking voice is about an octave lower and she curses like sailor in private). She also jockeys for power within the family dynamic, and while her brothers are raking it in like never before with all their war profiteering during their father’s second term, she is most likely still ahead, albeit in the background, as Jared traipses around the world playing diplomat and raking in billions from the Middle East backers of his private equity fund. Not bad for a princeling with no previous institutional investment experience. Kushner was eagerly soliciting funds in the tumultuous final weeks of the first Trump administration, launching his Affinity Partners with a two billion dollar buy-in from MBS immediately after leaving office. Jared famously came back to the White House to take a shower after a whirlwind final Middle East trip with then U.S. Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, to shore up investors for their post-administration lives on January 6th, 2021, as his father-in-law sent his goons to attack the U.S. Capitol in an ill-fated coup d’état. After this latest installation of the Trump reality show ends, we may all need a shower - or an exorcism.” open.substack.com/pub/noelcasler…
