Varicose Veins Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins that usually appear on the legs and feet. They happen when the valves inside the veins become weak, causing blood to pool instead of flowing properly back to the heart.

Episiotomy: What Every Expecting Mother Should Know. An episiotomy is a small surgical cut made between the vaginal opening and anus during childbirth to help deliver the baby safely when necessary. Why is it done? Doctors or midwives may perform an episiotomy if: The baby needs to come out quickly There is fetal distress Assisted delivery (vacuum or forceps) is needed There’s a risk of severe tearing Is it routine? No. Today, episiotomy is not routinely done and is only used when medically necessary. Recovery Tips ✔ Keep the area clean and dry ✔ Change sanitary pads regularly ✔ Use warm water after urinating ✔ Take prescribed pain relief if needed ✔ Avoid heavy activities while healing ✔ Eat fiber-rich foods and drink plenty of water. When to seek medical attention See a healthcare provider if you notice: Fever Increasing pain or swelling Foul-smelling discharge Heavy bleeding Difficulty passing urine or stool Important Reminder Healing takes time, but with proper care, most women recover well within a few weeks. Childbirth is different for every woman. Always discuss your birth plan and concerns with your healthcare provider.

Understanding Hydrocele A hydrocele is a painless swelling in the scrotum caused by a buildup of fluid around one or both testicles. It is common in newborn boys but can also occur in older boys and adult men. Causes In babies: Happens when the sac around the testicle does not close properly before birth. In adults: May occur due to injury, infection, inflammation, or sometimes without a clear cause. Symptoms Swelling of the scrotum Feeling of heaviness in the scrotum Usually painless Swelling may increase during the day Is it dangerous? Most hydroceles are harmless, especially in babies. However, persistent swelling should be checked by a healthcare professional to rule out other conditions like hernia or infection. Treatment Babies: Many hydroceles disappear on their own within the first year of life. Adults: Treatment may not be needed if it is small and painless. Surgery may be recommended if it becomes large, painful, or uncomfortable. When to see a doctor Seek medical attention if: The swelling is sudden or painful There is redness or fever The hydrocele becomes very large It does not go away over time Prevention There is no guaranteed prevention, but protecting the groin from injury and treating infections early may help reduce risk in adults.

Doctor, I thought it was just stress… You’re always tired. You drink water every few minutes. You pee all night. You’re losing weight without trying. You’re eating more than usual but still getting slimmer. Many people ignore these signs until they land in the hospital. It may not be “village people.” It may not just be stress. It could be Diabetes Mellitus. A must read 🧵
