THE SHINING - 35mm film print scan in Open Matte. The full film frame shown here is 1.37 aspect ratio. TV, VHS and early DVD versions used 1.33. European cinemas used 1.66. Blu-ray and UHD/BD used 1.78. The US theatrical exhibition version was 1.85. Stanley Kubrick composed each shot for 1.85, his preferred ratio for theatrical viewing.
