NJ Transit’s endless breakdowns, delays, and filth aren’t fixed by photo-op “first steps” on vehicles ordered years ago. Dems spent decades + billions while riders suffer. Now $1B+ subsidy amid $7B deficit, illegals prioritized, and looming fare hikes/taxes. Real change? Fix infrastructure, not virtue-signal. Empty promises from a failing machine.
English

For too long, NJ TRANSIT riders have been promised change.
Today, we start delivering the results they deserve – with the introduction of 40 new railcars, 250 new buses, and 30 new accessible vehicles for NJ Transit.
This is a first step toward fully replacing NJ TRANSIT’s entire fleet for the first time in history.

@jriv21597 @MarkFusetti well yeah of course… the suburbs are outside their jurisdiction

Ok NE Philly be careful out there. The city is trying to dig into your pockets again. Here’s the lists of intersections. If you go 11mph over the posted speed limit you’ll get a $100 + ticket
6400 Frankford & Levick
7000 FKD & Tyson
8300 FKD (Frankford Bridge) between Solly & Ashburner
9900 FKD & Morrell

@GeorgeRoush you’re a good person, and it was nice to read something on here that wasn’t clearly made by AI

I am deathly allergic to fur, so I have to keep my distance, but I did do my best to take care of the wildlife when I lived out in the woods.
I intentionally created a hole in one of my heated buildings so that rabbits could stay inside during the winter. I didn't mind. They made a nest in the insulation under the floor. I opted to leave it, and instead bring them water and food when the weather was bad.
I tried to feed the deer when they would pass through... problem is that deer are PUSHY. They will fight to get access to a single carrot.
Hummingbirds were easy- leave out a feeder and they'll enjoy.
Bears would go through the trash, and even though you're not supposed to feed them, it's obvious that the local black bear population lives off of foraging human scraps.
My neighbor recommended just leaving a plate of nuts and berries out for them next to the trash can so they would stop flipping it.
I started doing that, and lo and behold... the bears would eat what was on the plate and leave the trash alone. I'd always come back to a cleared, but not shattered, plate. Very, very polite creatures.
Bears are interesting because they really don't want to hurt you. The first time they see you, they will either run or get up on their hind legs like they're going to fight... they're not. If you stick around long enough, they'll start to just wander through your property while you're doing other things. I'd be outside working on a car, and a couple black bears would just walk by. I'd acknowledge them, they'd acknowledge me, and they'd go on their way.
Although I didn't have foxes up at my house, I did get to hand-feed a wild fox at a friend's house. That was very cool.
I think animals are great. I really like them. Sometimes I'm angry that I'm so allergic to them. I often wish I could have a dog. I think golden retriever are just the best.
I believe that all good men should strive to take care of wildlife when able, not because we have to, but because we have the ability.
I'm going to miss living in the woods. It was truly a fantastic time in my life. Difficult, but worth it.

Left the door open at my old house. A field mouse snuck in and became trapped in the sink.
He was very well behaved so I gave him a few pieces of ramen and carried him back out to the woods.
Came back later and he was sitting on my doorstep waiting for me. I swear, every mammal wants to be domesticated.

Shoutout to Vincent at Iannelli’s for showing me around his bakery on one of the 15 days of the year they’re open
And I’m not just saying this because he was nice to me (relatively, dude loves to bust balls) - this is some great tomato pie, some of the best in Philadelphia

If everything goes to plan, I’ll finally be trying a food item from a particular spot in South Philly that I’ve been waiting literal years to try today. Fingers crossed 🤞

@peteyburn if you only plan on escaping the city like once a month i would suggest renting instead of busying/leasing a car. i got rid of my car in 2020 and now save easily $10k a year.
