Jetpac on Taito SJ now boots into a proper title screen, in colour, with credit and start inputs working. Gameplay loop is almost there, with a few small enhancements along the way — the rocket fill being one of them.

@zoethorogood I like how they chose Bumble Bee for their name. It's like making "Octopus" honey.

One of the things that sucks about having a dead brother is I still take photos of things that I’d send to him, but then I have nowhere to send them cause who else is going to appreciate this in the way he would lol

I wasn't a big fan of Cobra (1986) on release. It felt like MTV meets The Punisher and didn't quite gel. It's too glossy to work as a Dirty Harry/the Exterminator style movie, and needs some more of the sly humour that Robocop brought to its story. I rewatched it recently and I don't think I've changed my mind. Lots of action, some good one-liners, but it runs on rails.

@henskelion Artistic licence of course. It makes me think of a wheeled version of a D-Day landing craft; perhaps that was the idea.

The @marksandspencer G&T in a can is 40yrs old. They sell 15million of these things each year. To celebrate they’ve changed its packaging back to original (not v nice!) 1986 tins. Tho’ good to see StMichael returning

@BarrieEditor1 Ohh, I'm sorry to hear that, and very sorry for your loss. Many of us grown-up boys - thousands and thousands of us- still have fond memories of his comics which were part of our childhood. I loved seeing your dad's cheerful and wholesome Tweets!

Hi everyone, this is Jen, Barrie’s daughter. I’m very sorry to share the news that Barrie passed away yesterday. He loved interacting on X with you all and making the contacts that he has. He thought of many of you as friends. He asked me to let you know.

I never thought I'd be saying this but I genuinely think it's time to retire cheese and onion crisps. No one eats them any more, a flavour from a bygone era. Time for another combo to enter the variety bag elite.

@Lord_Sugar You work within your constraints. Luckily we programmers these days have it easy in comparison. I just ask an LLM to write my code

What I find amazing is that the CPC464 had just 64k of memory (the Spectrum had 48k!) These days that's only enough for a small picture or a few seconds of audio. How did those games programmers do it back in the day? 👏

@Lord_Sugar Spent a lot of time on one of these playing Dizzy. Pity many game developers didn't know how to use it properly, so we ended up with direct spectrum ports that didn't work properly.

@Lord_Sugar It was very, very tight coding. Some programmers were writing it directly into machine code.

@Lord_Sugar The Amstrad had some disadvantages for gaming compared with other 8-bits: slower than the ZX Spectrum and with no hardware sprites or scrolling compared with the C64; but I think it had the most beautiful colour palette.
