SPIRIT AIRLINES IS SHUTTING DOWN. THE IRAN WAR KILLED IT. Jet fuel costs have nearly doubled since the Iran war began. Spirit, already in its second bankruptcy, could not survive the spike. A $500 million government bailout collapsed Friday after creditors rejected the terms. Spirit lost $60 million in the first two months of 2026 before fuel hit record prices. The airline could cease operations as soon as tomorrow. 17,000 employees are at risk. Spirit operates roughly 2% of all US domestic flights. Removing those seats this summer will push fares higher across the entire industry as travelers compete for fewer available seats. Follow: @NeptuneIntel

Sam Altman: "There was a time when we used to make fun of the “idea guy,” who only had an idea and needed someone technical to build it. But now, people who just really deeply understand their users and can’t code at all, I want to fund those people."

CUBA IS IN ITS WORST CRISIS SINCE THE FALL OF THE SOVIET UNION. Cuba has received zero oil shipments in three months. The island produces barely 40% of the fuel it needs. Surgeries for tens of thousands of patients have been postponed. Food is spoiling in homes with no refrigeration. Three nationwide blackouts have hit the island since March. The most recent left 11 million people without power. Garbage trucks sit empty on Havana’s streets. Airlines including Air Canada have suspended flights citing fuel shortages. Venezuela once supplied 35,000 barrels of oil daily to Cuba. Those shipments stopped entirely after the US removed Maduro in January. Mexico has been pressured with tariff threats to stop its deliveries as well. Without power, water pumping stations fail, food cannot be preserved, and industrial production has stopped. The informal market is now the primary way Cubans access basic goods. Trump said Monday he believes he will have “the honor of taking Cuba.” The regime has begun releasing political prisoners this year. Negotiations with the US are ongoing. Follow: @NeptuneIntel

TRUMP WANTS TO TAKE OVER CUBA. Trump said Friday “we could very well end up having a friendly takeover of Cuba,” with Marco Rubio leading the effort at “a very high level.” Trump described Cuba as having “no money, no oil, no food.” The US has blockaded oil tankers heading to Cuba since February, the first effective blockade since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Cuba has had no oil shipments in three months. Three nationwide blackouts have already hit the island this year. Trump officials have held talks with Raúl Castro’s grandson. Cuba released 2,000 prisoners in April. The US confirmed regime change by end of 2026 is the stated goal. Analysts say rapid regime change is unlikely. The more probable outcome is a military reshuffle within the existing structure, not a full collapse. Follow: @NeptuneIntel
