@AnnMemmott Funny how that’s the defence they’re using, when he basically said the fact that his son is autistic was a reason to mourn. You can’t wish us out of existence one moment and then claim to be one of us the next. I’m genuinely incensed by this.

@AnnMemmott That’s akin to that absolute berk Paddy McGuinness asking if his kids are capable of feeling love. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

@AnnMemmott Depends. I have an extremely high pain threshold… Until I’m pushed too far or already overwhelmed. Then I go from coping to screaming very quickly.

@AnnMemmott @ItsEmilyKaty As someone diagnosed with debilitating OCD, I get so annoyed by the responses when people find out. They either call me a liar because my house isn’t a clinical museum of cleanliness or say “we’re all a little OCD”… I wish I knew what a “little” OCD looks like!

What OCD is not: - being tidy - cool - a personality trait - a ‘quirk’ - being clean - liking order What OCD is: a dehabilitating condition which consumes a person’s mind and life through persistent, frightening intrusive thoughts and repetitive compulsions #OCDAwarenessWeek

@C_Hendrick @helenjwc @3dancingfeet Except that getting children excited about discovering their own reading so they can improve their skills is absolutely the current teaching method. Of course they need the basics to be taught but after that, it’s literally a case of empowering them to pick up a book.

@helenjwc @3dancingfeet The point I’m making is that there is an ethical imperative for all of us in education to use methods which have strong evidence behind them. Learning to read through discovery has no evidence whatsoever to support it and renders many children with a severe disadvantage in life.

This #WorldDyslexiaAwarenessDay has us chatting about the commonalities that neurodivergent folk experience. And to quote Rosqvist et. al's Neurodiversity Studies (2020) p.2 ... "By de-pathologising neurodivergence and the identities of neurodivergent people...

Can’t understand why I’m being asked if my son is a rapist on an ADHD assessment form… Is this the fucking view people have of people like us? That we’re rapists, arsonists and animal killers?! I honestly feel sick.
