Yes. I believe that if a pastor ever commits adultery on his wife, no matter how repentant or in right-standing with church and family he becomes, he should still not be reinstated as pastor of any church. Above reproach is there for a reason and it speaks loudly to a culture already hating us.
They are not damned, they can be forgiven. They are free to use their gifts to serve the Lord, serve in ministry, etc. But not pastor.
Paul planted a church in Corinth: a city filled with every kind of brothel. To be a Corinthian was synonymous with fornication.
He informed the church to be set apart. To share the gospel and behave differently from the sinners around them.
He never told them to amass political power to eventually outlaw the sin in Corinth.
In Ephesus was a temple of Diana with female priests. Paul didn’t tell the church of Ephesus to appeal to the city council to get women put in their place. He just instructed the Christian women to behave differently. To be set apart.
Again I say, this movement to make Christianity the law of the land is not the gospel. It’s not our assignment.
