@entropied2223 The point is he's incapable of creating meaningful melodies with the regular structure of Bollywood songs. It's just a small hook line repeated ad nauseam followed by small irregular lines with no thematic continuity.

Taking A R Rahman for music & Sriram Raghvan remain biggest source of pessimism wrt Ramayana movie. Latter still ok cos at least the guy is intelligent and you can control ideological tone and tenor but why Rahman? He's way past his peak and has nothing new to offer. Tiwari should have approached Hindustani classical musicians to do this, say someone like Ajoy Chakrabarty or Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma, both for songs and BGM. Rahman kuchh achha nahi create kar sakta ab.

@entropied2223 ARR's problem is that his songs sound like ad jingles. The music is generally such that the lyricist can't express any whole idea and has to just inanely repeat the "product name" so that the consumer remembers it after the ad is over.

I told you this guy @DrSanjivGoenka owner of @LucknowIPL is a complete looser and joker of the highest order - i am seriously embarrassed with his behaviour. I created the @IPL for fans and players alike. Not for this to happen every time every year. If I was still Chairman and commissioner I would have BANNED him immediately and made him forfeit his ownership of the team for ever. He is a complete pompous clown. There is a clause in the franchise agreement for this exact issue. #bcci implement it - keep integrity above all - sucking up to powers that be is not the way to allow him to get away. Fans and players alike will remember.

@Notepaid I agree. But the same hip hop lingo is looked down upon by the whites since it's black music. But it's popular here in urban circles. Same for footy- it's massy sport, but on the surface it looks like only desi urban niggas like it.. tho it's played here in dehat significantly

My only problem with this is the guy who's playing ravan is also one of the producers & he's trying to be the 2nd hero. Ramayan is all abt Ram
Making it like LOTR is ok since they are trying to get Western crowd. Something of this scale puts on India on map & it was long overdue

@Notepaid I agree with the anime part. But then it would have been just another anime bit on ramayana which are already available. Plus a new face wouldn't have given the film as many eyeballs as Ranbir would. Ravi Dubey is playing Laxman which is good, but for Ram you needed a big star

Enough of the poverty porn slop that we churn out for the West. Our epics deserve a wider global audience. They need to be told on this scale to show what India is abt. Ramayan, Varanasi need to bang so that Aditya Dhar also makes one on Ashwatthama. Don't let this new wave die

@trex770 Such epics are better shown as an anime. Like the Jap version and the latest Netflix one.
But if it had to be made like this, maybe they should have found a new face so that it would be easy to associate (like Nitish Bharadwaj as Krishna or Samar Jai Singh as Shiv)
