@OBCHOOPS @NILnotNLI Not really bevause NIL is funded through a third party collective. No money used to pay players through NIL is publicly funded jts all privately funded and donor money. No matter how much a school spends on NIL it doesn’t affect the University athletic budget

🚨 ANOTHER NCAA OLYMPIC SPORTS PROGRAM ELIMINATED 🚨 Division 1 Mercyhurst University has announced today it is discontinuing its Men's Ice Hockey program. The school refers to the slashing as: "strategic program adjustments to strengthen future growth" Tell that to the kids.

@iowaddced @NILnotNLI It’s just not them, other schools are starting to cut Olympic sports also. There are D1 schools cutting sports. NIL is definitely going to be a driving force behind some of this. Maybe not at Mercyhurst but will happen at others.

@OBCHOOPS @NILnotNLI This has nothing to do with NIL or anything Mercyhurst has an NIL budget of $0 if they cut a sport it’s bevause they actually couldnt afford it they play in a hs level football stadium nil is the least of their concerns

@NILnotNLI What did they think was going to happen. Did they not see the law of unintended circumstances. Many colleges/universities don’t have the $$ to suppprt big sports and the non-revenue sports. Could be the fall of college sports in general.
