@erparker The blocker to that seems like cost/pricing of movement, which ppl forget about. Compute + egress make cloud regions, and energy + transmission will make energy "metros" more obvious. Roads + tolls over bridges. No one in a good node wants to pay for network edge infra.

In 1994 William Nordhaus showed that the amount of work that anciently purchased 1 hour of light could buy 51 yrs of it in 1994. When considered over a long time span, cost of energy is approaching zero. Things will get weird when communications, computing, & energy are all free.
