Personal announcement: I’m joining @PlasmaFDN as Head of Protocol Security. Stablecoins are the future of money. Anyone with an internet connection can use them. If stablecoins are going to form the foundation of a thriving economy, we have a lot of work to do to make sure people can use them safely and securely. Crypto has often felt like the wild west. That energy helped early builders. But now we are at the stage where eyes are on us to do things right. Security must be prioritized more than ever to bring billions of people and trillions of dollars onchain. I view security as a layered puzzle across people, infrastructure, and process. Each level is critical to reliable operations. In crypto, mistakes are measured directly in dollars and often come from customer funds. That makes security incidents existential. Traditional banking faces similar risks, but centralization and permissioned environments make clawbacks possible. In an open, permissionless financial system we don’t have that privilege. I am joining Plasma to help ensure these transparent, efficient payment rails are secure and can scale safely to bring the world onchain. Trillions.

I’m incredibly proud to share that I’m joining @PlasmaFDN as DeFi Lead. This opportunity to fuse a longtime passion of mine with a higher calling is something I may never get again, so when @rongplace offered me a shot it was a no-brainer. As you all know, I love DeFi. All the chaos and opportunity literally deprives me of sleep and I truly couldn't imagine spending my time on anything else. DeFi nonetheless can feel a bit self-referential at times. Stablecoins are the vehicle of breaking this constraint and getting DeFi out into the world. This is what attracts me to Plasma: it builds on the shoulders of giants, specifically USD₮. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I get the privilege of helping to connect people - not only escaping currency devaluation for the first time but also earning yield. Accessing these value-preservation tools is critical, and stablecoins will unlock this at scale. The team's ability to execute both onchain and offchain is flawless, and working alongside these best and brightest in the space gives me the room to become the operator I know I can be. Getting to help build the most dynamic and productive DeFi ecosystem is a truly beautiful puzzle. Those of you who know me well know I was pulled out of retirement for this, above all else I do it for the love of the game. The best path to realizing an efficient and self-sustaining ecosystem is with stablecoins. Digital dollars are DeFi’s engine. Without USDe PT looping, we’d be stuck in 2022. Without leveraged ETH staking, Ethereum-based DeFi would have faded long ago. Stablecoin TVL growth is outpacing DeFi TVL growth, and this trend will continue. We will approach DeFi with a stablecoin-first mental model. DeFi deserves stablecoins, and our permissionless products create the most powerful supply sink for digital dollars that any GTM strategist could dream of, including me.
