@robert_stagg Oh, same here, Robert. We had promised a cup of tea and a catch up in the UK as soon as possible. He was such a lovely man; I was honoured to have hosted him in Newcastle some years ago. His intellectual generosity to the students at his seminar was exemplary. I will miss him.

Sad to learn of Mike Schoenfeldt’s death. A fine critic and lovely man. He was one of the OUP readers for my first book and we struck up a correspondence thereafter. We were aiming to meet once he’d recovered from some operations. Alas not now. obits.mlive.com/us/obituaries/…
