My tribute to David Willey. If ever a BBC foreign correspondent knew their patch it was David. I grew up listening to/watching his reports from Italy. A BBC correspondent for half a century, his reporting career spanned seven decades. A true broadcasting legend.

@BBCSteveR Beautiful. And the perfect melody for him. I always thought no-one knew more about the Vatican than Mr Willey - other than the Pope and God. Imagining someone other than him reporting from Rome for the BBC is like someone other than you being posted in Moscow -inconceivable.
