If Matthew 7 is about ‘going to heaven when you die,’ then somebody explain how billions of ‘saved’ people equals ‘few.’ Either our gospel math is broken, or most of church culture is selling comfort instead of the narrow way. Find the narrow way. It doesn't mean what you think.

IDK. I think if you could find the connection between the wood and the fat, it might become clear. Both are fuel, and--this is interesting--the wood is meant to burn the fat, but the fat would actually be an accelerant causing the wood to burn up more quickly. Maybe the point is that the burnt offering should be arranged so that the fat and the wood work together to burn it up more evenly without leaving big chunks of unconsumed meat? I've heard of people who make money as bonfire concierge, arranging the wood and accelerants for the most symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing bonfire.

A chiasm in Leviticus 6:12-13 features the perpetual altar fire and the burnt offering. - A - Keep the fire burning, it won't go out --- B - Priest to burn wood on it ----- C - Arrange the burnt offering on it --- B - Burn the fat of the peace offerings - A - Fire kept burning, it won't go out Is this a deliberate literary device or just a coincidence that looks like a chiasm? Red herring. I don’t know anyone who says the standard is the first century church. Rather, the standard is the New Testament - which happened to be written in the first century. To the extent first century church form and function corresponded with New Testament directives, great. But that is incidental to the plenary authority of Scripture. I think you understand this distinction, but ignore it to distract from the real issue - which is the dichotomy between church form and function as the first century New Testament defines it, and church form and function as you now want to define it based on your post New Testament anachronistic presumptions and man made traditions.
