If Matthew 7 is about ‘going to heaven when you die,’ then somebody explain how billions of ‘saved’ people equals ‘few.’ Either our gospel math is broken, or most of church culture is selling comfort instead of the narrow way. Find the narrow way. It doesn't mean what you think.

Every child of every nation state is born into a socio-historical narrative that their own people group is superior: ethically, culturally, intellectually or otherwise. Our own atrocities are minimized or justified, while “others’” are highlighted or exaggerated. It is immensely difficult to unlearn innate propaganda which feeds the roots of our identity. Jesus offers a critique of “the world” in toto - leveling the playing field - preferring no citizenship over another, but introducing a citizenship from above: reintroducing man to an utterly transcendent identity (the only one which authentically defines of all of humanity). His sword of judgment is unsheathed not against classes, nationalities or unfavored segments of mankind. Rather it severs us from the line of evil that runs through each and every human heart. Christ is against no person, but against the evil that corrupts all mankind. He is for every person, and for the healing of all nations. He enables us to see ourselves truly and to recognize the divine image in others.

@orsonscottcard This was really fun to read, thanks for sharing! Ender has always been one of my favorite characters. You did such a great job with him and your books had a big impact on me at several points in my life. I feel grateful the algorithm surfaced this one for me.

Addendum: How I did it -- once. My only start-quick novel was Ender's Game. I had had some traction with the novelet “Ender's Game,” and I had already committed to its main character as the protagonist of Speaker for the Dead. I needed a novel version of Ender's Game to properly set up Speaker, so readers of the EG novel would be prepared to pick up the story 3,000 years later. (Time dilation in lightspeed flight allowed frequent travelers to live through millennia.) I already knew, from expanding Mikal's Songbird into the novel Songmaster, that you don't novelize a short story by tacking twenty chapters onto the end. If the short story works, you start way earlier, developing characters and situations leading up to the same climax and resolution that worked so well in the short form. (If they did not work well, why are you novelizing it in the first place?) So to set up the story of EG, which began when Ender was given command of his own “army” in the orbiting Battle School, I went back to when he was chosen, and chose, to be taken out of his childhood home at around the age of six. Rigorous testing had led to Ender Wiggin being one of the most promising young recruits (draftees) to be trained to fight the invading hive queens. To show Ender's childhood family, I handled it quickly by putting Ender in my own family, back when there were only three of us kids. In my family, my sister was eldest, and a four-year gap between me and my older brother made us anything but close. So Ender grew up with a hostile older brother and a protective and kindly older sister — both of whom had come close to being drafted themselves. Every vile thing Peter did to Ender, my own brother had done to me. Every in-joke between Ender and Valentine was based on real memories shared with my sister. In this tiny cell, the parents seemed as distant as prison guards, quite unlike my own parents, who were in the main much more nurturing and involved. 1/3 🧵 ➡️

“How can I get a quick start on writing a new book?” Embrace cliches. You don't have time to develop your characters or milieu, or set yourself any challenges as a writer. Getting crap on paper is your primary goal. Still, try to do a good job of writing — snappy dialogue, quirky minor characters, a compelling dilemma (to which you already know the solution). Writing better takes a little longer. Invent more deeply. Complicate your storyline. Disguise your use of commonplace tropes. Your goal was to start quickly — but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to create a positive reading experience. As for the topic? Choose a character who suffers greatly, undergoes great challenges, and doesn't die. Set her in a milieu that you know well enough to write without much research. Create a few characters who do not just exist for your convenience, but have agendas of their own. Give your main character a reason to keep going despite all dangers and risks. Give your main character a job. Even if she hates her job, we need to see her working.

Let's leave Uriah out of this. In THIS instance, is David describing murder? Psalms 139:21-22 "Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You? I hate them with perfect hatred..." How about here? Psalms 119:113 I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law. Are we commanded to "murder"? Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. Is God a "murderer"? Psalm 5:5 "...You HATE all workers of iniquity." Is there a time to "murder"? Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Is Jesus telling us to "murder"? Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. Your mistaken eisegesis is unhelpful.

>Not one person on earth will ever achieve perfection besides Jesus. What a hopeless view of God we were taught. I don't believe this. I believe Holy Spirit is really good at His job and that its possible to fulfill what Messiah spoke of. The problem is that Churchianity has taught us these lies, and we believe them. They sold a bill of goods of "just accept Jesus into your heart and get your ticket to heaven punched" instead of violently lay down your life in abandon to follow Him and become His disciple, forsaking all else. My personal opinion, because its the one I've been shown after seeking Him for decades, is that its possible to enter into life here and now by actually doing what He said. Just that nobody has ever done it before. Which is why the greater works He spoke of have yet to be done. They will be though.

@RealDavidIsrael @joekanyou @willycooper @MalcangiSarah Sure but you are avoiding my point. Not one person on earth will ever achieve perfection besides Jesus. That being said we intelligently rank people's behavior, if I had to choose to walk past someone saying they hate someone else, or someone murdering someone else...

I didn’t answer your question because you’re trying to judge in a way you are unqualified to do so and it doesn’t feel like you are taking sin very seriously. I’m speaking about I’ve been given a glimpse of through twenty years of being led by the hand by Messiah and shown how He sees things. If you think the effect on your soul is any less to hate than to murder then you may be in danger of hearing depart from me for I never knew you someday. For your sake I hope not. The fact that you had to draw a false distinction in your reply “no diff between anger and murder” is literally twisting scripture. There is no difference between hatred and murder. Anger and hatred are not the same thing.

@RealDavidIsrael @willycooper @MalcangiSarah You didn't answer the question because there indeed is a difference between anger and murder, and Jesus did not invent new doctrine so clearly your interpretation is wrong. Psalms 4:4 and Eph 4:26 "BE ANGRY, and do not sin."

Oh shit people didn't get refunded? 😂 Fk im glad I didn't spend anything on their API. It was for the screen recordings they wanted us to do for $50. Loads of us like @FutureVibesAi did screen records and didn't get paid. A lot of excuses and I'm not bothered but principle if they can't pay a measly $50 i don't believe their 1 milly comps are real lol

Just so everyone is clear, he will never do it because the people he regularly reposts won’t get paid anymore. He should just kill the thing completely and just leave the subs.

Why did @elonmusk pause the creator revenue changes scheduled for Thursday? We don't need foreigners influencing our political conversations here and then getting financially rewarded for it.

You would think originally starting as non-profit that they would open source. Or still money to be made in making it enterprise at least and let people run it themselves. Nano does randomise a lot of features. Same with my character though I can get it close to accuracy but not as close as I'd want it

I'm glad Sora is gone it was a mess. Imagine releasing something so capable only for it to be heavily handicapped. This is why Bytedance should take that as a lesson not to heavily censor themselves just because of Hollyweird. Open AI have essentially censored themselves into irrelevance starting with 4o. Expensive lessons. I still think China wins the AI race because they aren't gate keeping like we are seeing in the West. Two steps back every time just to keep the cry babies happy.

I saw my first glimpse of smut at six years old, pre-internet when I was visiting an auto parts shop with my dad and saw a calendar in the back room. Was immediately hooked. I've been porn-free for going on five years now. So almost 39 years of a debilitating addiction. I grieve for how easily kids are getting sucked up into it these days. They don't stand a chance. Especially situations like mine where there wasn't enough motherly nurturing happening - that void wants to be filled.

Its too bad accountability doesn't trend on TikTok. I was just thinking this morning how much good could be done by these algorithms if they were targeting healthy communities instead of maximum profit. Imagine if it was promoting videos that promoted good morals, chastity, and love. What a different world we'd live in.

What’s left when you give up the “sanctuary” with its spectator seating … The “senior pastor” with his elevated pulpit and weekly monopolizing monologue “sermons” … And the “worship” team with their staged performances? Perhaps, just perhaps, God willing … The beginning of church as the New Testament actually defines it.

@RealDavidIsrael @joekanyou @willycooper @MalcangiSarah To God there are no differences to humans there is a big difference. One wrongs us directly. God holds us to higher standard of morality because he can because he is flawless, its human survival instinct and somewhat wise to have a ranking of what's more wrong.

@RealDavidIsrael @willycooper @MalcangiSarah In the same sermon, Jesus compared hatred in the heart to murder. Would you rather your angry brother hate you and insult you for a while or just go ahead and liquidate you? Don't try to teach there's no difference between thoughts and actions; that was NOT Jesus' point.
