As IL legislators who’ve passed our state’s most significant legislation on artificial intellgence, we know what we’re talking about when we tell you Trump’s AI executive order is unenforceable, dangerous and a nonstarter for IL. @RepDidech @gonggershowitz chicagotribune.com/2026/01/02/opi…

The @NCAA vehemently opposes college sports prediction markets. It is already bad enough that student-athletes face harassment and abuse for lost bets on game performance, and now Kalshi wants to offer bets on their transfer decisions and status — this is absolutely unacceptable and would place even greater pressure on student-athletes while threatening competition integrity and recruiting processes. Their decisions and future should not be gambled with, especially in an unregulated marketplace that does not follow any rules of legitimate sports betting operators.

I’ve got plenty of ideas on what needs to happen next in the @ChicagoBears stadium saga. But I’ll offer the team some free advice. Announcing you’re staying in Chicago the day before the draft = Bad. Announcing you’re focusing on Arlington Heights the day of the season opener and then losing = Bad. Announcing you’re looking at Indiana a few days before the biggest game of the season = Bad. Maybe we take a break from Bears stadium talk until after the season. This is a pivotal week. Beat Green Bay! The McCaskey family should focus on hosting a playoff game in a stadium that actually exists not distract by pontificating about hosting a Super Bowl in one that doesn’t.

Donald Trump has bowed to Big Tech, rather than protecting you from AI exploiting your healthcare and data. The President has made it abundantly clear: he wants no protections against AI, no matter the cost to our privacy, health, or safety. capitolnewsillinois.com/news/illinois-…

I’ve said it since the start of this shutdown — Republicans do not negotiate in good faith, and any deal that fails to protect healthcare is not a deal at all. For Democrats to cave now would be a complete betrayal of the American people.
Stephen Neukam@stephen_neukam

NEWS — A deal in the Senate to end the government shutdown is within reach, multiple sources from both parties told Axios. At least 10 Dems are likely to support a procedural vote on a package of funding bills and a CR, sources said. It would be in exchange for a vote on ACA tax credits in December and some language re: RIFs. More w/ @StefWKight axios.com/2025/11/09/dea…

Hey #twill tweeps…how do we pronounce this guy’s name. Because 4 different people pronounced it 4 different ways at City Hall yesterday (for some reason) & now I’m confused.

@jennicuster Disappointing that they consistently prioritize anything but the education and future of children in Chicago.

@RepDidech Even worse, a majority of the appointed board wore watermelon pins today. Passing them out before the board meeting.

It is anti-Semitic to taunt a Jewish woman with “Free Palestine” because of a disagreement that has nothing to do with the conflict in the Middle East. This is the 2nd time Mayor Johnson has appointed a Jew-hater to this board. If he looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
Paris Schutz@paschutz

NEW: CPS Board Budget vote turns ugly -- after the board passed the budget, board member Norma Rios-Sierra, a 'no' vote, shouts "Free Palestine" to board member Ellen Rosenfeld - an outspoken 'yes' vote.

Melissa Hortman was a brilliant legislator and attorney. She was deeply admired by many, and her loss is a national tragedy. May Melissa and her husband Mark’s memory be a blessing.

Thank you @MartyForIL for your kind words about the General Assembly’s historic $122 million investment in Lake County Stormwater. You may have voted NO on this project for five straight years, but deep down you know our budgets are big winners for the people of Lake County!

Over the past several years, Lake County state legislators have delivered $60 million (and counting!) to tackle the flooding crisis in our communities. As environmental crises continue, additional investment in stormwater management is critical to reaching this goal.
