The health care provider landscape includes a wide range of organizations and entities responsible for the delivery of services and care to patients. Today, my Subcommittee is analyzing this landscape to better assess how to make health care more affordable.

This morning, I received the American Optometric Association Health Care Leadership Award. I will continue to support policies that help patients access local doctors of optometry and promote heath vision.

I enjoyed my recent visit to Galax to speak with members of the Twin County Chamber of Commerce! I will continue to support policies, like the Working Families Tax Cuts, that help small businesses, spur economic growth and develop local communities.

Abingdon High School claims the Virginia Class 3 State championship in girls basketball! This is their first such title in school history. Congratulations!

This week, I celebrated federal funding I helped secure for the Glade Spring EMS Station project. At the Washington County groundbreaking, I joined officials to highlight the leadership of Wayne Stevens, who worked hard on this project and for whom the facility is named.

Congratulations to Galax High School Girls hoops on winning the Virginia Class 1 Girls Basketball State Championship! The Ninth District is proud!

Terror threats to Virginia communities persist, in light of yesterday’s shooting at Old Dominion University. I voted to protect our homeland from these threats and fund DHS. Senate Democrats need to stop with their antics. Vote to fund homeland security!

Recent news about a letter that Congressman Ben Cline and I sent in defense of Virginia Military Institute (VMI).

Why the targeted, major combat actions are needed to eliminate the threat posed by the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionaries and their proxies waged war against American life and called for the destruction of the United States.

Today’s NYPD press conference confirms terrorist threats pose dangers to American communities! It is irresponsible to hold up funding for the Department of Homeland Security. I voted to open DHS to keep Americans safe. Democrats need to join suit!

The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) joins U.S. medical schools to require nutrition education for undergraduate medical students! Thus, VCOM will combat chronic disease, emphasize nutritious eating habits and improve public health!

Glad to hear former House colleague @SenMullin tapped for DHS secretary!

I am honored to be recognized by the Virginia Credit Union Association as the Virginia Lawmaker of the Year! I thank Eastman Credit Union’s Kelly Price and Kindle Conkin for their work and meeting with my DC office this week.

The EPA Brownfields Program has the power to transform polluted sites into new hubs for economic activity, including sites in Virginia’s Ninth District.   Working to ensure Ninth District communities have greater access to a vital federal cleanup program.

I invited Marcus Stone as my guest for this year’s State of the Union address. Mr. Stone is the CEO of Connect Health + Wellness, one of 61 CHCs in the Ninth. We will continue to highlight the importance of CHCs and our work together to strengthen rural health care.
