I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy. She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

Today, I led the @HouseDemocrats in wearing orange to honor Hadiya Pendleton and every life stolen by gun violence. Orange was Hadiya's favorite color, and now, it's a bright beacon for gun violence awareness. We owe survivors more than thoughts & prayers. We owe them action.

This is a disgusting, hateful symbol of white supremacy, used to intimidate and threaten Black communities. Seeing one in Grant Park is deeply disturbing. When hateful rhetoric is normalized, acts like this follow. I will continue to condemn hate.

I brought the issue of maternal health to Congress because of Charles Johnson’s wife who died in childbirth. Nearly 10 years later, I introduced the WELLS Act because of my constituent Mercedes Wells. They’ve now come together to advocate on the Hill for Black maternal health 💜.

We can’t build safer communities while gun laws remain full of loopholes. Congress needs to close the Charleston Loophole, which allows gun purchases in three days even without a background check. It’s common sense: background checks should always be required to buy a gun.

60 years after the Equal Pay Act, women are still paid less for the same work. The gap is even wider for Black women. I don’t accept it. I support the Paycheck Fairness Act and efforts to strengthen equal pay protections. I’ll keep fighting for equal pay for equal work.

America was built by immigrants. This Immigrant Heritage Month, I celebrate the generations of people who came here seeking new opportunities. Their cultures, talents, and hard work continue to enrich our country despite ongoing attacks from the Trump administration.

This administration is a horror movie.

ICE already spends more than other nations' entire defense budgets to terrorize our Black and Brown communities. Now, the GOP wants to hand these Gestapo agents another $70 BILLION. Not on my watch. I voted NO.

While millions of Americans scrape by, Donald Trump and his allies are trading stocks and cashing in on billionaire-first policies. This grift is at the expense of working families who are left paying the price.
