An African American woman strongly defended Ghana in a heated exchange with a group of protesters demonstrating against President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal for a UN resolution to recognize transatlantic slavery as the “gravest crime against humanity.” During the verbal altercation, one of the protesters who took the video made unsubstantiated claims that Ghana was complicit in the slave trade and portrayed the country as an unsafe destination for African Americans, alleging that discrimination remains prevalent. Ghana didn’t sell slaves, Ghana didn’t exist then. Some locals were involved but much of it was driven by violence. Chiefs were threatened, killed or removed to force participation. Don’t rewrite history to dilute the scale and responsibility of the West's industrialized slavery
@NiaEducational Ghana didn't exist until 1960 lol apparently you think that everyday working class and serf Africans sold US into slavery. not to mention this is an extreme over simplification of what happened, there was widespread resistance to the trade.
