ethereum absolutely shouldn't rehypothecate its security. capital efficiency at all costs is a false god. network security is sacred and you're imperiling it when you lease out the same asset to secure 2 protocols. leveraged network security means, unequivocally, that at least one chain is insufficiently secured. definitionally. no getting around it. devs have not created staking superposition. either both chains are incompletely backed or one of them doesn't have backing. both chains are more fragile for it. "hey look it makes sense on paper" yeah that's what TradFi has said every time for the last 73 crises. it always makes sense on paper. an unforeseen outlier scenario will cause a major slashing on one chain that impacts another and you'll get your black swan. "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face". eigenlayer "liquid restaking" is just rebranded rehypothecation and will end poorly. it's just how leverage, reality, and human greed play out. we've seen it time and again in TradFi. this time is not different.
