@BBC6Music I've never offered to buy a t-shirt from someone on the street, but last weekend stopped a guy to say how much I loved his Ned's Atomic Dustbin t-shirt - and now you're playing them (I have had to pause a Teams meeting I am on to crank the volume to max!)

@ScottShorter Yes, seeing the same thing here in the UK, but no increase in clicks or rankings. Just a big (double) impressions spike. Ahrefs not showing anything for it, either.

We’re tracking a search console anomaly that’s occurred since June 30th (the same day as a Google core algorithm update rolled out). Is this a glitch in Google Search Console? When using country filters in Google Search Console, there’s a significant increase in impressions for the primary location of the website. For example, Australian sites have seen a spike under the Australian filter, with corresponding drops from other location filters. We’re tracking this across a large number of accounts. scottshorter.com.au/blog/search-co…

6Music saying their audience isn't the "older" generation, whilst having a meltdown over the Oasis reunion and hosting a 1994 day. It's like a landlord saying their establishment is not for the regulars, but the occasional student who drops by.

@JamesSkellyBand Like this album, have you thought of doing a full collab album with a bunch of guest writers, etc.? I think that's what makes it work with its "listening in to a bunch of writers shooting the melody breeze" vibe. Black Keys seems all ego, but this seems ego-less.

@StreetStephen I watched the Darkness live a few weeks ago on Justin Hawkins' birthday, where in the middle of the set he started an acapella version of I Know It's Over. It's great to see these tributes/homages from sometimes the most unlikely places/artists.

@120Revisited One of the best songs of all time to me, and such an iconic video. I wish there were a full HD version available. Thanks MTV 120 Minutes for introducing me to this song.

@ShiiineOn_ @wearejames @radiohead It's crazy how many at their peak bands played and sold-out York Barbican in the early to mid-90s, and yet now all we get are legacy acts and artists on their way down - and comedians. Yet, Leeds has excellent options multiple times a week. York is a death city for live music.

@SomeFellla @MANCHESTERMUS10 I agree on his ability. It's the perfect side of average. But, his riff and melody writing skills have produced some exceptional songs. He took the right influences, mixed them together, and got these wonderful hooky guitar lines that aren't complicated, but sound kaleidoscopic.

@MANCHESTERMUS10 Never known why people love him so much. I don't think he's bad, he's just not good either. I get he has "a sound" that is nostalgic to people, but he has the the skill level of someone who's been playing for a year. Can someone please explain to me why he's so brilliant?

@MANCHESTERMUS10 Declining. Their peak was so damn high, that I think all fans only refer to that time with their praise, and not their recent years. That's pretty common, to be fair - but there's few bands who released albums as good as their glory days.

@ShiiineOn_ Top was a great band, featuring the much missed Alan Wills on the drums, who founded the vital Deltasonic Records - who helped @thecoralband on their way up. I saw them at the Cambridge Junction 30 something years ago, and damn those earworm tunes. youtu.be/K2o8tjQ_gOU?si…

The BBC6Music News has really turned to sh!t. It's been getting progressively more idiotic and bias for a couple of years, but it really is just licking the bottom of the banal barrel now for headlines. Come 10:30am daily, it goes off for the day. It's gone so far down the pan.

@holte I really enjoy George on Double Down News, but he's wrong here. He's just repeating MSM lies, which is something he's always telling us not to believe. I never expected him to endorse Trump, but he doesn't need to endorse lies and propaganda, either.

So disappointed with the synth heavy mix on the new Cure album. I just don't understand why, with such musicianship available, childlike, flat and ugly synth chords are so high in the mix, blocking out the frequencies for other parts - which are barely audible at times.

This Cure interview is an absolute waste by Hugh, who clearly didn't listen to the only other interview Robert Smith has done for the album, as he's asking the same questions. Also, playing the new songs on every night of a tour is not playing them "a few times".

@KTTunstall @BBCLater @RobertSmith @thecure Mr H and Michelle talk fondly of watching it at the back of the venue with you all. He's also putting on a 20 Years Ago Today show next month of local bands from that time. Anniversaries and celebrations all around. Congratulations, and see you in York again, I hope.

@RodeoFall @BBCLater @RobertSmith @thecure It was that very night at Fibbers that The Earlies and I huddled around a tiny TV to watch my performance!! I was playing keyboards in the support band and hadn’t even told the rest of them that I played guitar 😂🤘🏼

Happy 20th birthday to the night that changed my life…🥳 Thanks Nas, I still owe you a beer…and thank you eternally to Jools & @BBCLater for giving an unknown kid a spot - especially one where I got to meet @RobertSmith from @thecure who even gave me a quote for my first press release! 🥹🖤 It was a beautiful start, so grateful xxx

20 YEARS AGO TODAY: Nas pulls out of Later With Jools Holland at short notice so they call for a little known Scottish singer-songwriter with a loop pedal. KT Tunstall becomes a star practically overnight. youtube.com/watch?v=FGT0A2…
