Well, I hope you’re right, and I have to remind myself that X posts don’t accurately account for real-life complex nuance. I was in NATO for 5 years and lived in Europe for a few years, as well as visited 9 different EU nations where I had pleasant experiences. Trump has a very adversarial personality that upsets people, and his whole Greenland fiasco was absurd. However, he is full of complexity himself. He does and says crazy things, but he does positive things as well and genuinely loves his country (he took a bullet to the head and didn’t quit). Hopefully the room temperature will lower and sensible minds will prevail.

I don’t agree there has been hatred of America politically or EU citizens, until now with Trump. If anything the Europeans have enjoyed the benefit of USA having a presence in Europe without them having to invest in the military. That was wrong in the European side and Trump rightly challenged that more forcefully. I don’t believe they want the USA gone, it’s just the Trump approach they’re pushing back on.

@ConceptualV @TomK66094987865 @WarMonitor3 @grok You’re right about these nuances regarding NATO and often people online (including myself) tend to be too reductionist concerning geopolitical complexities. As for Iran, most Americans are very concerned (on edge) about failure causing increased negative global results.

I'll re-word my previous statement, because it's unfair saying that the Ukraine war was your fault. The deal however is partly to blame for Russia being able to attack, but that was not US alone. However, why I react like that is your statement "your European war", when that statement lacks so much historical context, going all the way back to the cold war. Your statement is just as unfair as mine. NATO is overdue for a long time. Times has changed, that's why everyone in Europe thought it was fair when you wanted to pay less to NATO. Hegseth however didn't bother to come to the meeting about restructuring in February. I think we should still have NATO, but it need a total restructure, which is also fair to the US. Your statement about Iran I would be on board with if I thought it was realistic. I currently don't, but if you actually pull it off, I'll take my hat of to you.

Well, I am hoping ground troops won’t be sent in. It would likely result in a perpetual insurgency situation just like in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m hoping there’s a way that the enriched uranium can be secured some other way. I’m also hoping that the Iranian people can take their country back from the Islamic Republic that has been occupying them for 47 years.

The USA is not loosing. The west is. This will impact us all. Trump is just doing business, and now when he decides to use ground troops, it's going to be bad. I respect US troops highly, and it's just sad how much support this insanity gets. Trump and Hegseth and fired people left and right that oppose ground troops, and you cannot take Iran on the ground. The topology is something the US have no experience with.

@SB30Bio @TomK66094987865 @WarMonitor3 @grok Do none of you really don't understand how INSANE it is to threaten to take Greenland? Do you really don't see it? Just expect that this is something you have the right to claim, just like that?

Your statement doesn’t stand. The Ukraine war is not our fault, not even in part. We just wanted to use the established bases and airspace for our efforts in taking out the extreme Iranian threat. You chose to deny us that access, resulting in you effectively assisting the Mullahs. It’s absolutely delusional and insane to think that that the USA is losing this conflict in Iran.

I don't demand money? How come you people always have to make up stuff? I simply stated that you didn't want to pay, now you don't. Move on. No one demands money from you. Even when you wanted to pay less to NATO, every European country thought it was fair. But you keep complaining about it and hammering the same nail again and again, even after you make new deals. What you got in the water over there? My statement still stands true. And no, we are not superior either, we just speak to our alliances and don't expect any country to use NATO as their personal army when they decide on their own to start a loosing, devastating war. We don't slander every leader in the world, talk highly about Putin, or threaten to take country from allies.

I’ve been there several times. I’ve had friends treated there after combat injuries while I was in Iraq. However, Europeans want the USA out (which is their right), so I think it’s best if the USA leaves amicably and finds a better option. Just because it was useful in the past doesn’t negate that it isn’t any more.

The USA, UK, and Russia agreed not to violate Ukraine’s borders. The UK and the USA indeed did not violate them, but Russia did, and you arrogantly blame the USA and demand more money and involvement. Even if we gave you everything and went to war with Russia, you would spit in our faces and proclaim how superior you are.

@SB30Bio @TomK66094987865 @WarMonitor3 @grok Are you unable to think on your own? The 1994 Trilateral Statement and the Budapest Memorandum pressured Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons. My statement stands true. US gave way for Russia to attack Ukraine. It's as simple as that.

@inthezoneuk @MarioNawfal Well, I agree with that, but Europeans have held a deep hatred of Americans during every U.S. administration, including Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden. You want the U.S. gone, and I think the U.S. should oblige your demands regarding your land.

Useless now but in a more aligned relationship with the USA & the EU, they will be useful in the future. Worldwide events are fluid and America see those bases as useful to them. And leaders change. Not now of course but in the future. Because once they’re gone, they’re difficult to get back.

@ConceptualV @TomK66094987865 @WarMonitor3 @grok You moved the goal post from Norway to the whole EU. You’re complaining that we only provided 130 billion (it’s actually closer to $180B) for your European war.

@inthezoneuk @MarioNawfal I know the bases are still there. However, they are of no use anymore. I’m not emotional about it and I think you can do whatever you want with the bases. That doesn’t change the reality that they are useless now to the USA. It’s pragmatic for us to abandon them.

Nope. They are still there. But after the threats over Greenland, withdrawing from NATO, tariffs, abandoning Ukraine totally & insulting European leaders, I think they are telling Trump to back off! If Europe did the above with threatening the USA with tariffs, leaving NATO, threats over parts of their continent, do you think Trump would react positively or negatively? We know the answer.

That’s true, but disregarding our extreme amount of previous support for your European war just makes you appear to be very entitled. I am aware of how many bases the U.S. has. I just think we should abandon the European ones that are now useless to us. No hard feelings, just pragmatism.

Anyway, don't have premium. We more than you pr gdp anyway. And what's the point in comparing 5 million people to 320 million people? As I pointed out, you don't pay for bases, we pay for everything here in Norway for you. Some countries you pay to, others you get for free. Are you even aware of how many bases you have around the world?

America wasn’t attacked! NATO is there to protect members who are attacked. It is NOT an organisation to be used for any war America or other member chooses to start. Maybe America should remove its bases from Europe. And then the EU must step up. That’s good for everyone in the long run. Not sure America wants to lose strategic bases in Europe.
