I am excited to join @LDN_VRU steering group on online harms! I look forward to working with a wide range of stakeholders to explore how online harms facilitate violence offline and prevent violence in London.

🚨 Just out in @PNASNews 🚨 Combining administrative registers and individual Twitter behavior among Danes, we show that multiple offline indicators predict online hostility: Having many more criminal verdicts increase the likelihood of being hostile online. But - against common stereotypes of online haters - so does having high school grades when you grew up. The reason: Hostility is about politics and those from an affluent background are much more likely to tweet about politics. All in all, hostility is not just about algorithms and the features of online discussions. Individual offline dispositions matter too. @LaylaMoran, the extended @thameswater construction site at the railway station is extremely dangerous as they removed one of the traffic lights regulating traffic across the bridge. The Kier team confirmed that this was reported but @thameswater didn’t react. Please help!

@EnricoMariconti I find it striking that these disputes are framed such that students are fully passive in their education. It’s not like a getting a haircut. Students themselves must play an active role, and arguably the role they played during the pandemic was also not the same as before.

“Online degrees are less expensive than in-person degrees and that's because the costs are lower and the standard is lower” if only... if our standards were lower, my mental health (as well as the mental health of my colleagues) would have been better.

I would ask Mr Hamon if him and the other claimants would pay for all the extra hours we have put in to prepare the best lectures possible, create adequate deliveries and content (that I still use and students are happy with). bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

It’s a wrap! We concluded our 5-day @lorentzcenter workshop on Methods for Studying Hate and (Violent) Extremism Online. An amazing group did a lot of heavy intellectual lifting. @Isabellevdv @R_Scrivens and myself are grateful for everyone’s contributions. Next stop: our book!
