It’s hard not to think of Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower as I watch the news of LA burning. Written in the early 1990s, the novel, which conjures a dystopian vision of environmental and societal collapse, imagines deadly fires sweeping through LA in 2025. 1/3

Octavia Butler’s novel PARABLE OF THE SOWER was published in 1993. The President whose win led to so much…destruction was named “Christopher Donner” (yes, DONNER) and his slogan was “Make America Great Again”. This novel need to stay a cautionary tale. Octavia knew.

We are witnessing a President of the United States of America commit hate crimes. I'm in a fucking rage. I fucking hate this man so fucking much. He's dehumanizing the entire trans community. Teachers aren't doing what he says they are doing. Nobody is going to school and coming home a different gender. I hope every single trans person sues the crap out of him.

@ScienceGeekMel @MrsButters My wife is a biologist. Her college roommate is a geneticist. But answer my question about the restrooms and sports.

@ScienceGeekMel @MrsButters So bathrooms are based on sex not gender as are locker rooms and sports…why can’t trans follow that?
