@KurtBenkert @StevenCheah Good point, I didn't think of turnover worthy play. I think with the TOs its so much easier to stuff the run on 2nd and force a 3rd and long. Especially if you just need 3 and field position isn't as important.

I agree with you to an extent, however, I was trying to force a passing play in hopes of creating a turnover. Playing the percentage is the chance of a turnover Worthy play when the ball is in the air versus on the ground is higher (in Madden esp). Ended up running the ball anyways, so it didn’t make a difference.

Co-sign with clock management guys in the NFL having a ton of Madden experience should be required. Laugh all you want but it’s thousands more reps in simulated situations.
Kurt Benkert@KurtBenkert

If you enjoy clock management, you’ll love this video. Down 10 and found a way with 1 second left. And yes, I believe coaches would be better prepared for this aspect of the game if they played Madden (or had clock consultants) Spoiler (we won this in OT) @TheCoachHotRod

@wahlstreet23 @dpbrugler I wouldn't have blinked at a 4.57 for Boston that's why not running was so surprising. It must have been closer to 4.7 to get to get a don't even show it.

A lot of positive feedback from scouts on WR Denzel Boston's pro day yesterday. Looked really good with his route work and catching the ball. 6.80 3-cone, 4.30 shuttle, 37 1/2 vert at 210 lbs will play just fine.

@LRiddickESPN I don't get this. Kyler is getting league minimum 1yr based on the offset. He got benched by the last coach and cut with this coach for a guy who has never been a season long starter. I like Kyler but I don't see saying hes the guy over someone with similar talent and investment

I wouldn’t throw in the towel on JJ McCarthy. Let me be clear on that. But I’m not the one trying hard to bring in a super-talented 28 year old former #1 overall pick with 87 career starts and 2 pro bowls. And please …stop with the “JJ can compete for the starting job with him.” Yea. No. You don’t sign Kyler to compete. You sign him because you intend on him being the starter. JJ’s “starting” career resumes elsewhere. That’s how I see it. Time will tell.

@NFLDraftStudy Some significant value for the trading to team when the contract is already done and any signing bonus proration never coming to their books. Crosby under contract for 4 years for a real reasonable value of just salary and active game bonuses.

Glad trades are starting to swing a little more toward the high side of compensation tbh. Every deal is separate (Moore trade was bad for Buffalo) but letting go of high impact guys should cost a lot
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

ESPN sources: the Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. The trade cannot be processed until next week, but it is in place. And Crosby is expected to be a Raven with two 1s back to Vegas.

The PMT Seth McFarlane interview was a bit of a let down.. idk Seth was probably cooked from the junket, but the guys gave him some solid questions mixed with normal dumb ones and just never felt like he was really into it.. ah well

@StickToTheModel How hard would it be to add a post draft free agency pool to fill out the 53 or 75 depth chart? Miss some holes during the draft and backfill depth with FA leftovers.

@mookiealexander Something like over a 4 or 5 year span you have a rookie cap? Or there is no rookie scale and teams have to really put top rookies to the market vs star players, obviously the most fair option but the Vets may not let it happen.

Put safeguards in place so big market teams can't hog all the top prospects. Also you only have 12-13 spots on an NBA roster to begin with. They literally cannot just have all of them without trading stars away.
Brandon Rahbar@BrandonRahbar

Abolishing the NBA Draft is an all-time bad take. How do we restore competitive balance within the league? Ah yes, by giving the big markets yet another competitive advantage and removing the one avenue for smart small market teams to build a contender.

McVay with a HUGE error on that last possession. 3rd-and-10 with 2:07 left. You have to give Stafford a shot there! Run does nothing -- clock stops at 2-minute warning anyway. Try to put the game away! Gave the Bears a chance and got burned.

@NateJ937 @evanhill @tjmcaulay You call that possession with 3 steps? Shakirs hands or arms aren't even on the ball for the second step. Maybe he gets simultaneous possession on the ground but there's no possession with 3 steps down.

@evanhill @tjmcaulay Shakir gets possession when he takes 3 steps backwards. Understand? Think of possession as a flip that switches. Shakir flips the switch. Cookes didn't, no steps, no football move, no surviving the ground. The DB is the one that flipped the switch when he rolled over and got up

A player going to the ground to catch a pass must maintain control during and after contact with the ground. That’s the rule. Apply accordingly.

@DaveKluge @RyanPod So juggling for possession that is 50/50 goes to the offense. Possession that with control and on the ground gets ripped through the roll with no bobble goes to the defense. My argument is there was control, no bobble and a strip on the ground.

@RyanPod It's very obvious here that Worthy is still actively fighting for the ball. A true "tie goes to the offense" situation. Cooks was down on the field while McMillan was getting up with the ball in his hand. Very different situations.

Gene does a great job explaining this. If the Cooks hit the ground and the ball simply popped out, no one would argue that it was a catch. He didn't complete the process. Because McMillan secured it before it touched the ground, it's an obvious INT.
Gene Steratore@GeneSteratore

At some point when reviewing plays, the league should consider adding a speed threshold for anything involving the element of time. When you slow plays down to 1/100th the speed, it distorts what actually happened and makes it look like, in this case, Cooks possessed the ball for seconds prior to losing it. The game is not played in slow motion or frame by frame. For a catch: A) Secure control of the ball ✅ B) Two feet down in bounds ✅ C) After (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so. C is where there is a judgement needed since A and B are clearly met. Now consider this note to the rule: If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds. Because Cooks did lose control of the ball when he contacted the ground and the ball never contacted the ground, it was ruled an interception by Denver.
