Good morning homies...
You are the author of your own story. You hold the pen. Not your parents. Not the circumstances of your past. Not the challenges you faced as a child. You and you alone. And everyday you write a new page. And there comes a time to focus on you. And how that focus can radically transform your life.
When was the last time you focused on yourself? Not in a selfish way. But in a way that nurtures your growth. Your dreams. Your potential. Because most of us are busy taking care of others. Meeting deadlines. Paying bills. Living life for everyone one else that we forget the most important person in our lives...ourselves. Of course it is God but stay with me.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. You cannot give what you do not have. And you cannot lead others if you cannot lead yourself. That is why there comes a time where you must start to focus on you. I'm not talking about being selfish or neglecting your responsibilities. Quite the contrary. I'm talking about investing in yourself. To nurture your mind, body and spirit. Because when you do that, when you focus on becoming the best version of yourself, everything else in your life improves. Read that again.
Every relationship you have improves. Your work becomes more fulfilling. And your impact on the world grows exponentially. Even Jesus took the time to focus on Himself. Yes. Even He did. How many times in Scripture do we see Him go somewhere by Himself to commune with the Father? Frequently. Why? One of the reasons was to focus on Himself. Stay with me.
It's not that He didn't focus on the Father, for He drew strength in doing so. But it was this strength that allowed Him to focus on what He had to do. Even though He received direction from the Father, He still had to go into the world to teach and lead others to the Father. By putting the Father first, Jesus was focusing on Himself.
Think about it. God Himself said "I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans to give you a hope and a future." If you do not focus on bettering yourself, how do you think you will be able to fulfill the plans that God has for you?
What I am suggesting is that it's time to start prioritizing yourself. It's time to invest in your own growth. Your own happiness. Your own success. Because when you do that, you are not just helping yourself. You are helping everyone around you. And all this starts with your mindset. You must believe you are worthy of focus and investment. Too many people go through life thinking they are not good enough. Not smart enough. Or not deserving enough. Hogwash. You are a miracle. There is only one you. You are uniquely made in the image of the Almighty. So start treating yourself with the respect and care that such a miracle deserves.
And we are God's Holy temple. He is always with us. Therefore, focusing on bettering yourself is focusing on Him. Because our ultimate purpose is to further the Kingdom. To seek and fulfill God's will in our lives.
Do not misunderstand. There is no one more important than God. He far supersedes anyone or anything. Yet, at the same time we must learn to focus on ourselves. I believe that is why we must submit our will to the Father's. For in doing so, He will give us the strength, courage and understanding to focus on ourselves in a healthy, more empowering way. And in doing so, in focusing on becoming the best version of you, you will bring more glory to Him. That is our calling.
