Pretty famous trader in Ukraine who, according to insides, had up to $30m under management did a suicide today in Kyiv inside his lambo. Just 1.5h before the bottom tick he posted opening spot positions. My guess - his stops executed at the bottom. I'm happy I was not using stops today. And still almost got liquidated due to having my bybit account just a bit undercollateralized at that specific moment, while overall only less than 50% deployed to the market. Would have felt so stupid to lose whole exchange balance due to not being able to send the funds fast enough (wallet could not even simulate transactions due to gas fees).

@Kashfinanace I don't think it's about the legal issues (those agreements were hardly enforceable in Ukraine) but his own personal losses *as well* as loss of reputation and ability to manage both personal and someone else's capital

@TheBootMex Rip, but not sure why someone would take it to this extent, after all assuming you ticked all the risk management boxes by adding stop losses adding enough margin or hedged short but still nothing worked due to a faulty exchange system you're not to be blamed legally.

@ClaudioIGK Yup. I still almost paid the price with 1.2-1.3x by assuming I could quickly move collateral to the exchange, but the market moved to fast. Luckily I avoided that fate

@TheBootMex Stop losses saved me yesterday in coin-m. Yesterday is a reminder that if you play the game without SL only trade spot or futures-m with no leverage to avoid liquidation.

wow, almost got myself accidentally liquidated due to having very small collateral on the exchange and taking such a fast dump that I couldn't replenish

So, I just realised practically all major CEXs now charge interest on your negative perp UPNL (unless you have matching asset) above certain level that they market as "free borrowing". Isn't that basically a "scam" charge? It wasn't the case in bitmex days. You don't get interest on positive UPNL though and it also means that you'd lose money on hedged positions on the losing leg. Unless I'm missing something?
