PPE Medpro: UK government launches action to recover £122m. About time, but this is not the only suspect company. What about Ministers who helped? Need a public inquiry into all "VIP lane" PPE contracts. theguardian.com/politics/2022/…

@DrNeenaJha Doesn't have to be over. A govt that WANTS to could easily fund it

If we’re honest, we don’t have an NHS anymore. Not a functioning one. As an NHS doctor of almost 14 years I’ve never seen it in this state Taxis replacing ambulances, patients using private care out of desperation, NHS staff leaving in droves Really feels like now it’s over.

Hundreds on picket line at Aintree Hospital, noise from cars, trucks, fire engines, police cars, buses etc is deafening. @SteveBarclay must listen👂& agree to the pay demands of health workers. All our lives depend on well trained/well paid staff in a well functioning NHS✊🏽

The Telegraph reports that "People are dying because the NHS behemoth is broken beyond repair" If it is broken, then the blame lies at the door of successive gvts on both sides of the political spectrum. A political choice driven by a toxic neoliberal ideology killing people.

@RichardJMurphy Current thinking is that EVERYTHING is separate from govt. Nothing is their responsibility. Everything is a separate entity to which they can't be blamed.

What’s deeply sinister in here is James Cleverly’s pretence that the NHS is somehow something separate from government. Is that his aim?
BBC Politics@BBCPolitics

#BBCLauraK asks James Cleverly if the UK govt will speak to nurses' union about pay to avoid disruption for millions across the NHS? "We've got to make sure that we are good custodians of the public purse," he says bbc.in/3BqcMQW

Barclay is clearly suffering from selective memory loss saying the pressures on the NHS and social care were largely due to the impact of the pandemic. Labour on the other hand plan to raise money for public services by growing the economy and investing in jobs/ skills.

Imagine knowing that a trade deal was shit - shit for UK farmers, businesses and consumers - and signing it anyway. They’d rather sell the British people down the sewage-filled river than admit their toxic ideology has damaged us for generations.
