TorIX reached a new record last night: 1.600tbps! This was due to several different CDN's sending more traffic over the IX.

If you have some fiber offline in Toronto, this might be the reason right here.

We reached a new record yesterday evening, reaching and exceeding 1.1tbps for the first time! Looking back through our data to 2004 when we first reached 1gbps, it is amazing to see how much internet traffic has grown in the last 16 years.

@GGreg It is reasonable to assume that short term spikes are usually either a big content dump or huge transfer between peers.

Massive change in the shape and peak for yesterday's traffic across @TorontoIX now more of a curve with a gentle peak. Also note the 100gbit/s spike, new peering agreement or huge backup? 😅 #COVID19Ontario

We're volunteer and not-for-profit and one of the largest Internet Exchanges in the entire world. The biggest Internet companies and ISP's are here, large enterprises are here, but not the City or the Province. It's sad.

That's right! We hit 1.085tbps, which is 70gbps higher than the peak in February. Watching game release calendars is now part of our capacity planning recommendations.
