While the Swish theory slander is saying he hasn't improved and is still a "low end all star", the truth is, he has improved, is a top 10ish player (and top 6 ATM) and might have been that sooner had he not had injuries and had the opportunity/usage.

@StoolGreenie Dan, you probably remember better than anyone, during the 2021 season, Jaylen was the better playmaker and was our best player before tearing a ligament. I thought he'd come back from injury as a better passer but looks like it took a few years to materialize.

This is where I think advanced numbers can miss the mark
In this piece it's suggested that Jaylen Brown hasn't improved as a passer, and just has more opportunities. That's simply not true if you actually watch him play and have throughout his entire career. For example
- His processing is faster
- He's making reads now that he wasn't prior
- He's making passes now he wasn't capable of making in years prior
There's just no way someone who has actually watched the career progression of Jaylen Brown would come to the conclusion highlighted below. You may not think he's a top 3 MVP (which is fine, he's prob 5-6th), but this is why people push back on the use of advanced metrics, even though they can be helpful

@BallUpTopBrad @LevAkabas Don't even have to watch the games to know! Cs have very good net rating with Brown on the court which comes against the others teams' starters ie. best players. Brown goes out and Cs bench rotation dominates other teams' bench rotation for an even better net rating. Very simple!

But just to illustrate how you are using it incorrectly, if we look at Tatum's 2024 regular season, you must then think that he wasn't impactful and the team was better without him on the floor based on his negative differential right? Because the lineups that were on the floor without him were good? It's the same idea
OF COURSE NOT because that would be insane. Unless that is your take of Tatum and his impact in 2024, which I feel confident is not

@StoolGreenie Jaylen Brown should not be playing point guard. It’s just kinda simple as that. Putting Jayson Tatum in the corner and not even using him as a decoy is unforgivable. Jaylen is great, and he can obviously make plays. It just doesn’t give us the best chance to win tho.

If the process on offense generated an open look, the offense worked. What did not happen was the execution
The same way late in Game 2 the Celts took 10 FGA in the paint, yet only made 1 shot. Their process was good, the execution was not
