Watching him solve this puzzle in real time, against the version of Sinner that had given him the most trouble, was one of the most remarkable performances I have ever seen. That was defiance. That is why Novak Djokovic is my favorite athlete.

This was the exact moment that Djokovic said to himself “FK these MF’ers I’m gonna show you who’s chasing who”. The exact moment. And this is why legends like Djokovic, Kobe, Phelps, used this stuff as fuel to take their performances to the next level.

You can be better on every statistic and still lose- such is life.
