On-point discussion here. The Browns just made it very easy to move Miles Garrett. With his current contract and bonus restructure, the 49ers could fit him nicely under their roster cap, and the fix of their defensive line would be finally wrapped up in the best possible way for several years. It would cost SF a couple 1sts and change, but the value of those picks is nothing compared to having a generational player like Garrett. A Garrett/Bosa/Willisms/Osa line would destroy the NFL. Some people have been saying, "we need some guys with issues off the field". Ok, I get what you're saying, guys with edge, guys who are capable of incredible violence. Zion Young had a DUI. I'm never gonna say that's ok or that I want that. I'm not saying people don't or can't make mistakes. I really don't understand Evans' fit in SF. A deep threat who can't run after the catch in a run-first offense with a QB that can't throw deep. The 49ers must really like 3rd place in the division.

He’s had non-leg injuries lately, but has also rebounded relatively quickly from them. Here’s the bottom line: despite being in the last stretch of his career, he’s big, he’s still elite, he’s a red-zone/TD monster, and he won’t be carrying a massive work load in SF. P.S. He’s a better, tougher WR than Aiyuk, the ghost he’s replacing, at significantly less money.

Why I LOVE this signing: The 49ers receiver room is mostly young, with untapped potential. They need a strong leader in the room, with proven experience who could mentor players on durability and route running. That's been Mike Evans. His game was mever about speed, but being an incredible route runner and understanding opposing defenses. He now comes SF to mentor Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins, and whomever they draft this year. This is the kind of force multiplier they've needed in the receiver room.

@AlSacco49 Bingo. Not to downplay his age and injuries, but when he came back last year, he looked to still have a fire in him to play.

Mike Evans is a Hall of Famer but he’ll be 33 in ‘26. Last year he posted a line of 30/368/3 in 8 games. WRs tend to fall off at this age. Adams was an outlier w/Rams (60/789/14). Seems like a placeholder move while #49ers possibly develop a high draft pick at WR Thoughts?
