I think animation is a really good medium for heightened melodrama and I find people’s desire to see it repeated in live action strange. You’ve already seen Evangelion. It was already good.

Putting a photorealistic filter on top of anime editing/composition really reveals how that style of cinematography doesn’t work when representing a more real space/characters. These conventions only work in live action for comedic effect (”just like in anime!”)

Radar graphs are among the worst ideas in data visualization. The whole point of them is to show the area and you can usually reorder the labels freely in order to create a desired dramatic effect.
Two versions of the same graph:
- left one tells the story that AI is rapidly replacing whole industries
- right one shows the "jaggedness" and reinforces the idea that humans will always have something that AI won't be able to replicate

Elon attacking Anthropic for having guardrails is rich.
He spent years trashing OpenAI for abandoning its “benefit humanity” mission.
Now he’s mad that Anthropic won’t greenlight mass surveillance and autonomous weapons.
Apparently “AI for humanity” was only cool until it got in the way of building Skynet.
