One city suburb. One street. One month. And this list of names is only the people the @nytimes could identify. The youngest was just fourteen years old. This is who Russia is. Europe will never be safe until Ukraine is, and the people responsible for this are in The Hauge.

It’s just incredible. Does it even need saying? Trump wants members of a defensive alliance to join a war he started after spending months causing a crisis in Europe by threatening to forcibly annex the territory of a member state. Now he’s pissed off like a child. Same mental capacity.

Trump lashes out at Europe and NATO this morning, calling them "cowards" for not assisting the US in opening the Strait of Hormuz.

So, Patriarch Filaret, largely thanks to whom the Ukrainian Orthodox Church -- the direct heir to the Baptism of Rus' in Kyiv in 988 A.D. -- freed itself from centuries of subordination to Moscow and regained its independence, has passed away at the age of 97.

Removal of Assad alone brings irregular migration out of Syria into the EU to the lowest level since 2009. Please take this into account in your future discussions about push and pull factors in irregular migration.
Ben Fève@BenjaminFeve

According to the latest @Frontex figures, only 30 Syrian nationals were detected crossing into the EU irregularly in January 2026, the lowest monthly figure recorded in nearly 30 years (January 2009). This number may be revised upward as data is refined, but the broader 2025 trend is unambiguous: irregular crossings by Syrians have fallen to their lowest level since 2012 (lower even than during the COVID-19 pandemic). Time and again, the data confirms what researchers have long argued: the primary driver of irregular migration is conflict, not the economy. Syria remains one of the poorest countries in the world, with catastrophic levels of deprivation. Yet poverty alone rarely compels people to risk dangerous, illegal crossings. When the immediate threat of violence and arbitrary detention recedes, so does the impulse to flee. The December 2024 transition has not made Syria prosperous... just yet. But it may have made it survivable, which is, in itself, enough for many to stay.

The reckless campaign against Iran will weaken America’s president. That will make him angry. Be warned: he makes a very bad loser econ.st/4lA7lEQ

In reality, no one in the world has done more than Donald Trump to pull Putin back from the brink of total failure and to encourage and empower him to never stop under any circumstances but to pursue his most maximalist goals against Ukraine. And then to move further against Europe, because he sees that the former leader of the free world is ready to hand him everything on a silver platter for a pat on the shoulder as “one of us.”

Lindsey Graham and Donald Trump are having a mental breakdown over US allies not providing the help they claim they don't need, in a war of their choosing they claim to have won, after spending the past year threatening to invade several US allies. Cheers from Europe! Good Luck!

Attacking allies as deadbeats, fake countries, U.S. colonies and/or threatening to invade them doesn't, in fact, make them want to rush into a kill box in the Gulf. Go figure.
Lindsey Graham@LindseyGrahamSC

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

Kirill (🕊️) Dmitriev is now blaming Europe for not backing an American war against a Russian client-state, a war which Moscow opposes. I don't ask for much in life, but what I do ask for is this: when Dmitriev's downfall happens, I would like it to be live-streamed. kyivindependent.com/russia-slams-e…

Iran's "Resistance Axis" failed to destroy Israel or prevent war from coming to Iran; it did succeed in establishing Iranian dominance over Iraq, Syria, Lebanon & Yemen, at the expense of the people of the Middle East. My new piece for @TheAtlantic theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/03/…
