Japan has 123.8 million people living there and they were able to count their votes in about 8 hours. They voted and the results were out that very same day. Why does it take blue states in America weeks to count votes?

The blue lines on the snow in downhill skiing first showed up on the FIS World Cup circuit starting in 2001 (with wider use by 2002, like at Kitzbühel after some high-profile crashes pushed safety measures). I get the nostalgia for raw, unguided speed where racers had to feel the terrain purely by instinct—no painted guardrails turning the mountain into a managed track. But those dye lines have probably prevented way more catastrophic offs than they've "ruined" the purist vibe.Still miss the old-school chaos though.
