This weekend marks 7 years since I moved to Austin, TX after spending 9 years living in Los Angeles.
I wouldn’t change anything. I absolutely love it here.
Good life/work balance. Lots of active people. Incredible food options. Innovative tech companies. Lots of stuff to do. Relatively affordable.
We have room for improvement like all cities but I can’t really see myself anywhere else in the United States

There's a really good interview with some apple engineers and how they talk about what they think were their big failures. I gotta look for it.
A big part of it was attracting the *right* talent, and Apple's stance toward Open Source, and sharing research in general didn't fit culturally with the best researchers they tried to hire.
