This ridiculous notion that he was some sort of untrained outsider is just a crackpot talking point that refuses to die despite repeated debunking.

I have been self-studying physics for the last few years, and most nights I walk away realizing how much I really don’t know. So I have zero frame of reference for the sheer testicular fortitude it takes to cold-email a cosmologist who’s spent decades mastering this stuff and say: “I’ve disproved Einstein / solved the big problems. Look at my paper. If you won’t, you’re gatekeeping or can’t handle the truth.” The lack of basic humility and respect to bypass the grind, the math, the experimental checks, and leap straight to conspiracy is honestly astonishing. It is delusions of grandeur of the highest order. One thing I still don’t get: why is it always Einstein and Special Relativity they claim to disprove? Do they actually hate the man, or is there something about relativity that makes it the favorite target?

This is the thing "LLMs are conscious" people think is the same as a matrix multiplication.

@SpencrGreenberg Switching from Episcopalian to atheist at 14. The initial cause? My sixth grade history textbook, which made me realize that if I had grown up in a culture with a different religion, I’d have a different religion, too. It took me two years to go from that realization to atheism.

The funniest thing about Einstein's life: he couldn't get an academic job for 9 years - even after publishing Special Relativity as a lowly patent clerk. His contemporaries simply didn't care. He only became famous after the Eddington experiment confirmed General Relativity by observing how starlight bent around the sun. Poetically, it took a solar eclipse to un-shadowban him from academia.
