@_joonbug77 I was debating that earlier and still decided that the winter solstice is best. It's when the light hits the minimum and starts its rebound, though spring equinox is second best choice for new year.

So Iran still holds the proper annual calendar in which the new year begins on the first day of spring. As it should be.
Soureh 🟩☫🟥@Soureh_design2

The Iranian New Year, Eid Noruz, coincides with Eid al Fitr this year (after 162 years apparently) Everything about this Eid is different. In the cities that haven't been targeted you can feel the atmosphere of the New Year as it used to be, but in cities more involved with the war like Tehran and Esfahan is different.. In these cities the tradition of spring cleaning was halted by the start of the war, since every moment، it's possible your home is targeted and blown up! . Still people going shopping, preparing for Haftsin tradition but they're mostly focused on their presence on the streets. They want to celebrate the Spring Equinox which is the first moment of the New Year on the streets. In fact there are preparations for that. And by Celebrate I mean spending it together mending their wounded hearts with the hope and pride they feel by their resistance. This day is especially difficult since it brings up too many memories.. Every Fitr prayer in Tehran was led by the martyred leader, Iranians looked forward to that every Ramadan. And every New Year he would send a video message, congratulating Noruz and naming the forthcoming year! It was the first thing broadcasted on TV after the year renewal moment. On the first day of Noruz Iranians visit the cemeteries to remember and cherish their departed.. On the other hand there is a custom in Iran concerning families who have lost loved ones. It's called Eid Awwal, it means the first Eid (any Eid) after the passing of a family member. Relatives and friends would visit and pray for the deceased to comfort those who've lost them. Many families who are mourning their martyrs are hosting Eid Awwal, but Iran as a whole is a big family who's lost its father.. Who is to visit and comfort them for this Eid Awwal? Which tomb or grave should they visit to calm down!?.. These Eids are too painful even with all the victories on the battlefield, but Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel..

WSJ: U.S. War Planes and Helicopters Kick Off Battle to Reopen Hormuz The U.S. has deployed A-10 Warthogs and Apache attack helicopters to the Strait of Hormuz in an intensified campaign to reopen the waterway — now closed to commercial shipping for nearly three weeks. Brent crude briefly touched $119 a barrel Thursday before settling at $108. Twenty percent of the world's oil exports move through the strait. The Trump administration is now managing the economic fallout of a war it launched on February 28. The Pentagon says more than 120 Iranian naval vessels have been destroyed. Iran is still believed to have hundreds of undamaged boats in hardened coastal tunnels, along with mines and truck-mounted cruise missiles that analysts say could take weeks to neutralize, if at all. Meanwhile Iran's parliament is considering legislation to charge tolls on select ships it allows through. Tehran is turning a military chokehold into economic leverage — potentially forcing nations that need Gulf energy to deal with Iran directly. A force of 2,200 Marines is also heading to the region, with a possible mission to seize Iranian islands off the southern coast. The U.S. went to war to eliminate Iran's military capacity. Three weeks in, Iran still controls the strait, oil is above $100, and Washington is sending in the Marines.

@OderintMetuant @glcarlstrom Iran going nuclear is a far, far larger problem than China’s desire to take Taiwan. It directly threatens the people of the United States.

"The cost of replacing the first four days' worth of munitions would be $20bn-26bn. The problem, however, is more to do with scarcity than cost. America is thought to have used more than 300 Tomahawk cruise missiles in the opening days of the war, but the Pentagon had planned to buy just 57 new ones in the current fiscal year. There have been no deliveries of THAAD interceptors since 2023 and the Pentagon has not placed any new orders this year. A puny 39 interceptors are slated for delivery in 2027—six years after they were ordered." economist.com/briefing/2026/…

@glcarlstrom What else are we saving them for but a war to take Iran’s nuclear ambitions away and ensure the United State’s future survival? Worth it.

Netanyahu just gave an insane speech in which he repeatedly referred to Iranians as "barbarians" and said the US and Israel are fighting a colonial war "to protect civilization". US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth also dehumanized Iranians as "barbaric savages" (as the US military bombs elementary schools and hospitals in Iran). The mask is off. The US and Israel are fascist genocidal regimes that aim to "exterminate all the brutes" of the Global South, as 19th-century European colonialists said.

After last night bombing bonanza by Iran - no commercial plane is able to land in Ben Gurion International Airport which is damaged. Now all the settlers who were promised free land in the West Bank which they can steal from Palestinians, are fleeing by the land border with Egypt or Jordan, or if they are rich they can charter a private yacht for their family at USD 20,000 to take them to Cyprus island which is about 300 km away. The total urban and industrial areas of Israel is very small - about the size of the city of Paris (100 sq km). With no more interceptors and early warning radars, at the rate Iran is bombing Israel - by 30 March 2026 most building in Tel Aviv and Haifa will be razed to the ground.
