Communities are fundamentally a form of leverage. It’s 10x easier to join a community than to build your network 1 person at a time.

@haridigresses @Workday 100% agreed. Closed platforms are pariah states in a post agent world. My contrarian view is that this same dynamic will take down LinkedIn. The prize is now too great to be hoarded.

This is the beginning of the end for @Workday. Charging for data use and egress is the sort of rent-seeking behavior that companies employ when they've run out of innovation DNA. Hey Workday — it's not *your* data, it's your *customers'* data, and they can do whatever they want with it. If you want to block the "parasites", maybe just build a better product instead of engaging in anti-competitive practices (hi @FTC!). If you think you command the same pricing power with @HiBob_HR and @Rippling nipping at your heels, you're in for a rude shock. And just wait until someone builds an open-source Workday (I would bet this is a thing in the next few years). PS: Rippling also exhibits similar (in fact, worse) closed-platform tendencies, and I think it's a big mistake. I hope they change this philosophy. Open ecosystems tend to win in the end.

Recent earnings call, Aneel Bhusri of Workday says startups with AI agents are "parasites" This is what system of record incumbents really think of startups. The war is just beginning. The facts: the user data belongs to the users, not the incumbent software vendor.

@haridigresses It's funny you mention this. I've been working on an AI CEO and it is *so* hard to force the model out of its "helpful assistant" training. It'd be awesome if someone released an 'org chart' of models fine-tuned with different personalities and specialities.

I revise this statement. I was excited by GPT 5.4 showing much of the cleverness and creativity of Opus. But it turns out to have also inherited many of Opus' flaws: - poor instruction following - coloring outside the lines in breaking ways - incomplete execution Not to anthropomorphize too much, but apparently coding models are just like coders... you can either be a cracked straight-line execution machine (with little taste), or an eccentric genius with clever ideas (who can't be kept on track). You can't have both. Whichever model cracks this will actually solve programming.
hari raghavan@haridigresses

GPT 5.4 is INCREDIBLE. Last time I felt this way was in early December, when the 1-2 punch of Opus 4.5 and Codex 5.2 changed the game.

Thanks to everyone who reached out about the @ConHome article yesterday. Let’s not get distracted by what the establishment thinks - they’re the ones that got us into this mess. Forest City has so much potential, so it’s important we focus on execution. Progress is the best antidote for skepticism.

The only thing that matters in consumer software is velocity of shipping. You will regularly be wrong about what people want: no one is a perfect psychologist. But if you are out at the frontlines with concepts everyday, your team will have their finger on the pulse of users and know where to add fuel.

US founders: We are going to build godlike intelligence and live forever and control the weather and oh also colonize space. Americans: That sounds great thanks, how do I invest? UK founders: We are going to make life marginally more tolerable. Brits: Oh come off it

Is Anglofuturism cringe? Obviously yes. Is anyone else less cringe while trying to do something? Probably not. Trying to do stuff is always cringe. Getting things done requires quite high cringe tolerance. Elon Musk is one of the most cringe people of all time. Gets lots done.

i have never experienced more flow state in my entire life than the past few weeks the unbearable opportunity cost of literally doing anything other than making sure your fleet of agents are running 24/7 is a ridiculously motivating force

Here's my general sense of where things are headed: 2025 → 2026 - 10x engineer → 1000x engineer - 1x engineer → 10x engineer - Vibecoding knowledge worker → 1x engineer (or maybe like 0.7x engineer?) - Non-vibecoding knowedge worker → ngmi 😬
