Till early 90s tomatoes used to disappear after mid April in north and summers was season of Lauki Tinde , torai kaddu etc. Hybrid varieties created this misplaced expectation that rise of tomato price creates hype and hoopla

In Hindi, Dalaal is often used for a kind of middlemen. In North India, an illegal broker (who charges money) is often called a dalaal. Literally the word mean Pimp. By the way why are Americans worried about a word? Pakistan will charge money or concession for facilitating the peace talks as event manager. So Pakistan is Dalaal.
