Yet, in a brazen attempt to create obstacles, these officers were held hostage. The main accused, Mofakkarul Islam, has turned out to be a close associate of TMC. He is seen in several pictures with TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee. He even shared the stage with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee herself. All this indicates that the Mothabari episode was not a random incident, but a planned act to intimidate the officers. Democracy Under Attack in Bhabanipur I have sent a strong complaint to the Hon'ble Chief Election Commissioner against the Trinamool Congress for brazenly misusing Kolkata Police as their personal surveillance squad. While I was peacefully conducting door-to-door campaigning in Bhabanipur Assembly Constituency, plain-clothes Policemen were deployed to shadow me, note down every voter’s address & identity who dared to meet me, so that they could be intimidated later on. This is state-sponsored voter intimidation and a major obstruction in free and fair elections. TMC should understand that such tactics won't work anymore. The days of their high-handedness and autocracy are over. The Voters of Bhabanipur, just like the Voters across the State of West Bengal will give a befitting reply to TMC.
