I’m a Vandy alum, Marcus, but thanks for letting me know about the school. The truth is this, every SEC school — and many Southern schools overall — are surging in popularity. All of them are seeing applications soar and admit rates plummet from Vandy to Ole Miss.

This report points out some good questions about the project and the way Georgia Power is profiting off the taxpayers, but to say nuclear isn’t needed to decarbonize sort of makes me lose respect for the authors. Every serious energy policymaker recognizes that it is needed

I'm by no means an expert on energy or any such matters but I genuinely have to ask: what is with this push across the west to get rid of nuclear energy? Bewildering to me

@DangerFreedom25 @captive_dreamer But I agree that the end result of ownership was good. Southern company is (as of now) a trusted Georgia company.

@buffetsgambit @captive_dreamer Vogtle delays were mainly due to political policy of a certain party. Very ridiculous, but the end result was Southern Company and Georgia Power owning the plant outright and not being beholden to political whims and project investors.

@DangerFreedom25 @captive_dreamer Yeah, that’s true too. Know a lot of the engineers/workers who built the new reactors (I’m an Augusta native) though, and most of them said they had to build a lot of the project phases twice bc of errors in either planning or trade execution (due to lack of experience).

@Timcast @EdKrassen @CLIFHIGH3 I mean I think he means that on a case like this the judges are supposed to determine the interpretation of the amendment and not consider the fallout of that interpretation. If the amendment is a crap amendment, it’s up to Congress to change it, not the court.

@ClayTravis But Clay couldn’t you say the same thing about the 2nd Amendment and guns? The same logic could be applied to assault rifles and semi-autos- I don’t think it should- this is something that needs to just be changed by congress.

Reality: If Congress had known in 1868 that one day people from foreign countries could travel to the US while nine months pregnant — stay for a couple of days — and then return to a foreign country & retain US citizenship for life they would have unanimously rejected it.

So it would probably be in your best interest to tone it down a bit and not burn bridges with the last supporters of Israel and the American Jewish community

The groypers are screeching about this one, but the interesting reaction is coming from “Catholics” attempting to appropriate the nation’s founding. I support religious pluralism, but our founding fathers were far more anti-Catholic than they were anti-Jewish.

I also happen to pay more attention to the Christian calendar than the Jewish calendar, so I don’t keep track of what the actual days are called.

@saturnine_grace Oh no everyone is sinful? How does that line up with what the Bible teaches. My brain can’t comprehend this paradox.

The vast majority of people have premarital sex so if you say it's sinful you basically have to say that everyone around you is evil which seems obviously false? Not sure how to square this
