Ss examine primary document information about the colony of Roanoke. CSI style. Using the argument writing CREEC format to write about what caused their disappearance. Will also use to write comparative paragraphs while reading the struggles of Jamestown in the novel.

What a creative way to teach aspects of characterization! This can transfer right to Blood on the River with analyzing author’s craft moves in developing Samuel. Love your heart for reaching students! @co_sumner @BJohnsonSCMSELA

Students had fun working on characterization. They independently read the short story, annotating about the characters. As a group they discussed and made paper dolls to demonstrate their knowledge of characterization.

@AdamMGrant I often want to promote the work but feel like others may think I'm promoting myself. So I don't say anything, and am often told I am too humble. It's a fuzzy line for me to process.

There's a difference between promoting yourself and promoting your work. Promoting yourself is flaunting what you achieve in an effort to get attention. "I'm amazing!" Promoting your work is sharing what you create in an effort to make a contribution. "I hope this adds value"

@MsLanchak It can be a struggle when you assume that anyone would do what you are doing, not realizing that they wouldn't always. And being a teacher working with you, I truly appreciate your contribution to our team and to myself. You do so much that we don't even see.

A1: Full transparency: I struggle with this immensely. I think I have such an innate servant's heart that I immediately defer my role to how others will benefit rather than pause to accept appreciation for my part. Working on this, for sure. #WarmDemanders
