@TrackAIPAC @Scott_Wiener So they both took 0 dollars from pro-Israel PACs. But then you do this other calculation for Weiner which you don’t do for Saikat. Whats up with that? Are we supposed to believe that Saikat has received 0 donations from people who also donated to a pro Israel PAC?

My opponent has made his ties to AOC one of the pillars of his campaign. Meanwhile, she hasn't endorsed him and refuses to comment on their relationship.

We've seen tons of polls released this week, and none of them have been good for Donald Trump. His net approval rating is down to a new second term low of -18.8.

@SBF_FTX Damn, I guess you shouldn’t have plundered FTX deposits to place high leverage bets on crypto right before a downturn.

@mattyglesias The much more incoherent take is the GOP line ... 1) We should keep the current regime of Gerrymandering; 2) Dems are bad for Gerrymandering.

@mattyglesias I love this endless round and round because the GOP position is just, on a very basic factual level, incoherent and incorrect. 1) We need national Gerrymandering reform; 2) Dems should play by the current rules ... these two facts are politically and morally compatible.

It is EXTREMELY bad that Republicans repeatedly blocked a national ban on gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is bad, and Republicans are profoundly blameworthy for its continued existence.
YA@YesternightPost

@constans It makes no sense how all the liberal influencers can’t even say that gerrymandering is bad anymore. Not even @mattyglesias is calling it bad. Nakedly partisan.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Setting aside trust, we could have a bipartisan process where the GOP proposes a reasonable alternative, and they negotiate and find some compromise. The *fundamental* problem is that congressional Republicans do not want to to this, because they prefer the current system.

@chiplomatic @daveweigel Our basic disagreement stems from you trust the democrats more than I do. Trust is the only thing keeping us from agreement.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Not even remotely close to what the Dem proposals are so a total non-sequitor. No one in their right mind would support Trump appointing the commissions, nor would anyone support, say, Kamala Harris appointing all 50 commissions. Good thing this isn't how Dem proposals work.

@chiplomatic @daveweigel Would you agree with everything you proposed except Trump decided who was going to be on the nonpartisan committee?

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Here’s my compromise. We can keep the current GOP policy regime. In return, Republicans stop the pearl clutching when the policies they fight to keep in place are applied in blue states.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel See you still don’t get it. My proposals would roll back the maps in those blue states! But Republicans don’t want to, because they think in aggregate they still benefit. If that’s how they feel, then why should Dems unilaterally disarm?

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Right. In other words the GOP supports the current regime of Gerrymandering and resists equalizing reforms. This is really the basic point I have been trying to drive, and it sounds like you agree with me. So they should stop complaining about it.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Incorrect. The people fed up with not getting their way are the Republicans whining about the consequences in California and Virginia of the policies they unwaveringly support.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel And again, none of this gets the point I have been making all along which is that the GOP does not want to reform gerrymandering. In fact, their current push is to get SCOTUS to gut the VRA so they can go even harder. They aren't offering their own proposals, just stonewalling.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel The CBO has nothing to do with state redistricting committees. Again, if you have a critique of the rules that the committees would have to follow in the bill I shared, I'm willing to listen. But your argument is basically "i don't trust Dems so it must be bad".

@dudlydorit @daveweigel Can you give me an explanation of how a non-partisan committee, containing both Dems and Republicans, is an advantage specifically for Dems?

@chiplomatic @daveweigel Yes so called "non partisan" is an advantage to the left. You're so close to getting it. The only thing holding you back is your insatiable trust of the left.

@dudlydorit @daveweigel I would say in general I agree with that philosophy, but on the specific issue of Gerrymandering, I have become fed up with the stonewalling after all these years and endorse 1) Dems playing by the current rules, 2) an congressional solution.
