Update: we can now do affinity maturation in as little as 1 week with RamaX Opt from @diffuse_bio! To our knowledge, this is the fastest affinity maturation method available, outperforming even the most advanced existing experimental and AI approaches 🧵

@damianplayer i dont think anyone reputable is saying that AI wont be crazy impactful, but rather that it fits the profile of a large over-investment in the near-term. that *might* be incorrect, but this graph is in line with that hypothesis actually.

@dbasch im not saying you're _wrong_, but they 10x'ed their revenue each of the last three years. while 140b is a lot, we also said that about 14b last year.

It's completely obvious to me how the AI bubble will burst. To justify investor expectations, companies like OpenAI or Anthropic will need to 7x to 10x their revenues in the coming years. The assumption is that people will fire employees and "hire" OpenAI or Anthropic agents instead, that's where the revenue needs to come from. Well, that is extremely unlikely. The second it's clear that almost no companies replace employees by the $1000/mo agentic tier, everything comes down like a house of cards. When? If I knew that, I'd be fully invested in this scenario. It could be this year, it could be in three years.

It’s important that you understand what happened last night. Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue. In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired. CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.” In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump. But censorship always backfires. Here’s the full segment Trump didn’t want you to see.

One of the most impressive (to me) tasks I've seen Claude Code succeed in: ask it to run a small experiment in a sandbox, monitor the train loss, adjust HPs accordingly, and repeat until it can train a model with <N params for a given task. It's the most agentic I've seen it be.

Tuesday night, protesters packed the City Council meeting in Surprise, Arizona, over a proposed ICE detention center. You need to hear what this man told the Council.

Rahman: On January 13th, on the way to my 39th appointment at the traumatic brain injury center, I encountered a traffic jam caused by ICE vehicles and no signs indicating how to get around it. I had not wanted to pull into a block to chaotic intersection but verbally agreed to do so and rolled down my window after an agent yelled, "Move, I will break your f'ing window."  There were conflicting threats and instructions that I could not process while watching for pedestrians. Then the glass of the passenger side window flew across my face. I yelled, "I am disabled!," at the hands grabbing at me and the agent said, "Too late." An agent pulled a large combat knife in front of my face. Which I thought was for cutting me. And later learned was used to cut off my seatbelt. Shooting pain went through my head, neck and wrists when I hit the ground face first and people leaned on my back.  I was carried facedown through the street by my cuffed arms and legs while yelling that I had a brain injury and was disabled.

To call this the most corrupt administration in American history doesn't really do it justice, because no prior president, Republican or Democrat, would have even conceived of a grift on this scale "Four days before Donald Trump's inauguration last year, lieutenants to an Abu Dhabi royal secretly signed a deal with the Trump family to purchase a 49% stake in their fledgling cryptocurrency venture for half a billion dollars." "The deal marked something unprecedented in American politics: a foreign government official taking a major ownership stake in an incoming U.S. president's company." wsj.com/politics/polic…

All those examples admit a verifiable correct answer; human judgment is different though as it doesn't rely on computing an optimal solution or minimizing a loss function. In other words, this is a challenging domain for AI because understanding humans is challenging.

Okay so, 1) an American citizen exercises his First Amendment right to peaceably assemble and his Second Amendment right to bear arms, out of apparent concern that a tyrannical federal government is violating basic protections afforded under the Constitution 2) after coming to the aid of an unarmed woman who's been shoved to the ground by a masked federal agent, the citizen -- impaired by pepper spray, holding nothing but a cell phone -- is dragged to the ground by a group of other masked agents 3) during the scuffle, shortly after one masked agent removes the weapon from the restrained citizen's person, several other masked agents open fire, unloading 10 shots from close range and killing the unarmed citizen 4) despite video evidence, a spokesman for the federal government says the citizen approached agents with a gun, provoked a violent confrontation, and planned to "massacre" law enforcement You really want to defend this? Go ahead. Just know, you look like an absolute fool.

Positions ICE has taken: - We can enter your home without a warrant - You must carry your papers at all times - But we can ignore them and only our scanner matters - We can detain you anywhere, no matter your age, situation or status - Indefinitely with no access to a lawyer - And basically no right to a day in court - We can send you to a third world prison if we choose - But we can’t bring you back if we made a mistake - And if you interfere with any of this we can shoot you because you are a terrorist How is this not a recipe for totalitarianism?

I’m so fucking tired man. Whatever happens this time, they’re still gonna be out here harassing people, they’re still gonna be out here terrorizing people, and every few weeks, they’re gonna kill somebody again. And every single time, mfs on here will rise up in full-throated defense, like Karens, finding the tiniest little details to nitpick and defend the innocence of these oafs running around playing pretend cop. “Don’t resist! Don’t call them names! Don’t go out in public!” As if we didn’t live in the Land of the Free. Frankly, I don’t need to know the details of every new public execution, because even from the beginning it’s all counter to how we do things in this country. It’s counter to a just and fair legal system. It’s counter to values of freedom and our God-given rights. It’s counter to the goddamn Constitution. For fuck’s sake, it’s counter to common sense. So, we give these random dudes off the street guns and tell them to go harass and kill people? And for what? To defend our country from an “invasion”? Meanwhile these ICE fucks have effectively invaded and terrorized an entire state with their bullshit. Never thought I’d see the day a government police force of thugs would occupy an American city and kill American citizens and so many people I used to respect would stand up and support it. People like you, so willing to disregard principles for party allegiance, make me sick. It’s un-American and it’s deranged. I fear none of this is going to get any better, we’ve really crossed the chasm.
